Ballistic tests linked an illegal gun recently discovered at a Georgetown house to the Courtney Crum-Ewing murder scene and the suspect now being questioned is believed to be the trigger man.

Commissioner of Police Seelall Persaud yesterday said that one other person is being sought by investigators.

Stabroek News has been told that information suggests that there are two intellectual authors behind the well-planned execution of the….......

Stabroek News

What the Guyanese people are saying....

Delay of justice is injustice. Finally, the family and friends of Courtney Crum-Ewing can have closure.

We knew had not there been a new Government this would have never been address. God don't give more than you can bear.

Thank God for the change.

There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.

That is what Courtney was all about, it cost him.

my hope is that the investigation is forensic ,, lest there come along a "criminal lawyer" -- lawd de redundancy -- and make fish food of allegations that is a seive....... is all am saying !!

Onion Coil -

"Two intellectual authors" Ramjattan needs to make sure the police doesn't screw this up. The political implications here are massive. Seelall must ensure that police matters remain confidential and within the the organization. There remain people with political affiliation within the DPP and Guyana Police Force. This is heavy stuff. Wow Mafiasso in Guyana. Everyone knew this was a political hit.

The GPF under new leadership is tearing tail. Since the Honorable President Granger summoned the stakeholders and outlined the 5 point security strategy we start to see results. It all about leadership Baby!!! We finally have the right people with the political will and "know how" to get the job done.

HATERS ALERT!!! Entertain us with your usual BS. In all of it, we need a good laugh

OBSERVER -

It is good to know that the Police have made this break in this case, and are making progress with the investigations into this horrible assassination. This Guyanese Father is a HERO who was doing what he thought was right to make this country a better and safer place for his children and the children of all of us.

Let Justice Reign. Let the killers of Courtney Crum-Ewing be brought to Justice.

From today's Daily Word: "Peace of mind is mine as I embrace spiritual prosperity."

Guard this man with your life Mr. Commissioner. And promise him whatever he needs to be promised for a full and truthful confession as to the "intellectual authors" are . *don't worry the word intellectual does not apply in this case, nor does the word mastermind, but don't worry that. Let's face it, this case was not about robbery.

BORAPORK  -

We need justice for Courtney Crum-Ewing and we don't mean the conviction of a cackabelly while the big tuna swims away. The architects must be brought to justice and face the chutney music. It's time for Natty to sit upon de rock and watch de wicked dem drop. .

Good to see justice is being done.  The investigation, arrests and eventually conviction(s) will bring peace to the family and clarify whatever question there are.

Funny that the family/friends believe the same police who broke the case just sat back and allowed it to hang just because there was a different HA minister.  I wonder how the police men involved feel about being labeled in such a way.

Guyanese police on Sunday said the man arrested in connection with the shooting death of political activist Courtney Crum-Ewing could be charged shortly.
Head of the Criminal Investigations Department, Senior Superintendent Wendell Blanhum told Demerara Waves Online News that the arrest, which marks a “significant development” in the probe, was not as a result of willy-nilly action by police.
“Let me just put some of these speculation to rest. We have a suspect. We have hard evidence which can potentially lead to a prosecution,” Blanhum told reporters.
The Crime Chief said the suspect was not picked up at random off the street, but he “has been fingered previously in at least one execution and also he is a known character to the police.” The suspect has been questioned ever since ballistic tests on a gun pointed investigators in his direction but  Blanhum declined to say what has linked the detainee to the crime.
The suspect is expected to be interviewed again very shortly.
Crum-Ewing was well known in certain circles in Antigua where he had lived and worked for several years.  He was also the owner of a house on that Caribbean island.
Crum-Ewing was gunned down four months ago on March 10 while on a loud hailer on Third Avenue, Diamond New Scheme urging residents to go out and vote for the coalition A Partnership for National Unity+ Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) in the May 11, 2015 general and regional elections.
The former Guyana Defence Force (GDF) officer and former student of Queen’s College had risen to prominence months earlier when he had held almost daily one-man protests outside the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Attorney General’s Chambers.
Crum-Ewing had been angered by utterances of then Attorney General, Anil Nandlall in a recorded telephone conversation with Kaieteur News newspaper reporter Leonard Gildharie.

Hard evidence links suspect to Crum-Ewing’s murder -Crime Chief

While he still does not want to release the name of the man who is in custody for the murder of political activist Courtney Crum-Ewing, Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum on Sunday morning disclosed that there is hard evidence linking the suspect to the execution style killing. He said he is confident that the evidence will lead to a criminal prosecution.

“We have  suspect and we have hard evidence which can potentially lead to a prosecution. This is not somebody we just went on the road and picked up off the street. He has been fingered previously in at least one execution and also he is a known character to the police. So currently we are continuing our probe in the Courtney Crum-Ewing investigations”, the Crime Chief noted.

He explained to News Source that the suspect remains in custody and is being further questioned.

Yesterday, Police Commissioner Seelall Persaud told the media that based on the evidence in the case so far, the murder points to some political connections and he believes it was politically motivated.

The 40-year-old Courtney Crum-Ewing was shot dead in March of this year as he walked through the Diamond community with a loud hailer, encouraging residents to vote the PPP Civic out of office.

Before that he had protested for weeks against the Attorney General at the time, Anil Nandlall, over a recorded telephone conversation between Nandlall and a news reporter.

Crum-Ewing

Crum-Ewing had complained to the Police that persons were making threats against his life. His family members said the threats were never taken seriously by the police.( Under the PPP Admin)

Crum-Ewing was shot five times, three of those shots were close range shots to his head.
