1. Donald Trump MUST prove and admit in a Court of law that the income tax returns are his.
2. While there are discussions on publishing another person(s) income tax, there are no clear decision unless proven/established by the Courts as to its validity/invalidity.

Chief, LEGAL is spelt with one "L" at the end. Anyway, they could only be fined $5000.00 and that's a small price to pay for bombshell breaking news.
Don't ignore the jail time Skelly. Freedom of press may make it difficult to charge NYT but the person who sent it is very exposed.
Astute observation by DG.

Trump is not going to pursue any legal action. He is afraid to expose his crooked deals which might land him in prison too. He is afraid he will have to release his tax returns. What goes around comes around. Watch him squirm.
It is safe to suggest that Trump himself came up with the term 'genius' for the spin yesterday. He is that narcissistic.
All this nonsense about him never being charged for any tax filings. How would anyone know if all he would have to do is pay a fine. The IRS don't disclose the fines they assess to taxpayers.
Guliani is getting more stupid with every passing day suggesting yesterday that Trump has a fiduciary responsibility to take all deductions or risk being sued by his creditors. Guliani neglected to state that no one can sue anyone for how they filed their personal 1040 tax return. Trump is an idiot and so are those around him.
Love also how he is using those two sterling examples of good mariual behavior, Guliani and Gingrich, to criticize Clinton.

Jail time are, generally, for reluctance of the individual/company to abide with the court proceedings.
Freedom of the press is indeed a significant factor on this specific issue.
Washington (CNN) Bernie Sanders hammered Donald Trump over a New York Times report that he could have avoided paying federal income taxes for 18 years after declaring a $916 million loss on his 1995 tax return.
Trump should sue because he is the King for lawsuits.
I still think it is wrong to make someone's private tax return public without their consent.

I don't believe this is over yet until Trump's army of attorneys get to the bottom of this.
