The capitalist system needs people like Oprah in order for the system to continue. It is publicity for the system.  It is saying "If fat Oprah can succeed and achieve the American dream and have four large mansions then so can you and I can achieve the American dream"

Oprah TV is losing hundreds of millions of dollars.  If I were Obama I would give her a blank cheque compliments of the American tax payers to right off the losses because she is more than just a talk show host she is a symbol for the entire capitalist system.

For cats like Baseman. Stormborn and Cobra who are totally enamored with the capitalist system and cannot see its weakness with regard to human labor in today's miniature robotic age, she is true eye candy.   

It's all about timing and exploiting inefficiencies.  Phil Donahue was the trailblazer but Oprah was a good talker and aggressive enough to tackle women issues and move away from tabloid to more personal confessions. Today women issues are overkill, and gay issues, gay marriage, etc. are the topics to exploits. I bet you if these guys start a real gay talk show, not Ellen Degeneris crap, they would make a killing and be the next multimillionaires

She has a right to walk into any store in the free world and peruse the merchandise with out being "steered" to what is deemed "appropriate" for her. How is this different from the regular redlining strategies in other large purchases from homes to businesses?

If one is steered from what is their choice then choice is not free but directed by those who insist what caste gets what. It is her money and she can do as she pleases with it. The point being missed here is she, on account of her race, is being told she cannot afford what is offered without the clerk ever giving her a chance to demonstrate she can. I believe in liberalism. It is not opposed to being socialist nor is it anti capitalist. It is however not pie in the sky utopian Marxism. I do not believe in the hocus pocus about history moving to a classless society by virtue of elite accommodation or an economic theory not centered on people doing what they want to do for as long as they want to do it.

Obviously you don't know about marketing.  High priced items on display are a draw. Very few people buy them. Salespeople job is to push items with higher margins so they give all options. Now when the lady mentioned other lines, the fat cow just walked away in a huff and puff. If you follow the news you will see the fat cow apologized to the store. My Porsche has nothing to do  with the poor. I don't make an issue if the auto dealership don't want my business, I go to another. It's their loss. The point here is that rich fat people think they are better than lowly paid employees and people should bow to their chubby asses. 

I live close to the strip with high priced items. That is what they sell and that is what is the marketing lure.

If I go into a store I need the clerk to help me not steer me to what in her or his mind is appropriate for my presumed economic circumstance.
