Dear Caricom,

I have to admit that Jagdeo appears to have gotten played. He seriously appears to have lost at his own game.

See, the elections process allows for parties participating in an elections to dispute an elections result, after it is declared. The dispute is in the form of a petition for either a full or partial recount. If Gecom, to whom the petition is filed, fails, then the dispute is taken to Court.

Gecom and the Court are the only two recourse for redress; not the President and Opposition Leader. But the Opposition Leader inadvertently caused the process to drag out by continuously objecting to the Region 4 Returning Officer system or method of tabulating the votes cast. Little did he realize that he should have let the RO finish his job many days ago and then file the petition seeking a recount using SOPs and whatever method (spreadsheet or other type).

But after the Region 4 RO finished his job, Jagdeo fell into a trap of agreeing with Granger to a recount, with Caricom as overseeing witnesses. He forgot no law, rule or regulation exists to protect such agreement, making it a purely political agreement.

Jagdeo probably got distracted in his greedy quest for power that he did not realize he had up to 15 days to file a petition after the elections, and tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18, will mark the 16th day since elections to file the petition. He will be one day late. Did he get played by Granger?

Caricom folks, as well-meaning as your role may have been here, you were here as the result of a political agreement with no legal provision or framework. Sorry.

Again, this is narrative not really good but meant for “reprobates”.

First, most Guyanese know the power of the RO at the district  level because of the 2015 elections. He refused to grant a recount, the PPP filed an election petition in court which has been languishingbinncourt since then. Is this the same outcome that the writer wants? The coalition strategy since Election Day when they realized they lost was to force and play things so that Mingo will declare a result, GECOM will validate it and Granger will be sworn in as president. Then an election petition filed after that will languish in court again.

Second, the PPP/c had the high ground because the open attempt to steal was observed by the international observers the other parties, the ambassadors, Guyanese, and the world wide. To appear to be uncompromising in accepting the CaRICOM offer would  have eroded some of that.

Third, the DJ had ruled in the ppp favour in court so we had legal standing and support.

fourth, the people need a result and the nation needed to move forward.

Etc.

Have to go, just called to go help keep an eye on the containers.

Mervin is an idiot. As recent as yesterday the US Secretary was very clear that any illegal installation of Granger will be responded by harsh consequences. And that was when he still expected a break in the impasse which was being facilitated by CARICOM. I am curious of how pissed he would be today if he is called upon to revisit the matter given the stupid ruling by Judge Holder.

To compare Holder to Justice Navindra Singh is laughable at best. Plus the CJ upheld Singh's injunction. The only person supporting Holder's is Totaram.
