Chris Jagdeo is alleged to have killed Kurt. Was it a drug falling out or fallout over a woman?
Eccles execution-style murder…Where is Kurt David’s killer?
- Top Cop says police know suspect’s identity, will issue bulletin
Relatives and close friends of 31-year-old Kurt David yesterday held a candlelight vigil for the slain biker, even as police have received reports that the alleged killer may have fled the country.
Commissioner of Police Leroy Brumell told Kaieteur News that police are certain of the perpetrator’s identity and are preparing to issue a wanted bulletin for him. Brumell stated that the suspect, who is said to be a city businessman, disappeared on the very night that David was gunned down.
“We have heard that he has gone into the interior; we have heard that he has gone to Suriname,” Brumell said. The Commissioner also said that he had no information to suggest that the alleged shooter was licensed to carry a firearm.
The shooter has been identified as Chris Jagdeo, who was once a close friend of the victim.
Indications are that investigators will soon have further evidence to link the suspect to a woman who was shot at the scene, when ballistic tests are done this week.
Yesterday, David’s relatives and several members of the biking fraternity held a candlelight vigil at the Square of the Revolution for the murdered man.
David was riddled with at least 15 bullets at around 21:00 hrs last Tuesday during a brief confrontation outside his Seventh Street, Eccles, East Bank Demerara residence. Police said that David was killed over an affair that he was having with the shooter’s wife.
It is alleged that David and the man’s wife had met two Saturdays ago at a city night club and that some associates of the suspect had sent him photos of David kissing his spouse.
According to sources, the suspect was further infuriated on Tuesday after seeing a text message that David had sent to his wife.
It is alleged that at around 21:00 hrs on Tuesday, the businessman, reportedly accompanied by his wife, drove to David’s Seventh Street, Eccles home. He reportedly tooted his horn, and David, who had just had a bath, came outside and went to the car.
The two men reportedly had a brief confrontation before the businessman opened fire. Sources said that the shooter’s wife screamed out “— (name given) you can’t do that.”After the first bullets hit David, the wounded man reportedly tried to run back inside his house, but collapsed after more bullets struck him in the back. There are reports that the suspect then stood over David and pumped several more bullets into the fallen man.
During the shooting, one of the bullets struck his female companion in the foot. She has been hospitalized under police guard. Kaieteur News understands that the woman is claiming that she suffered the wound during a robbery around the same time that David was shot. However that robbery was not reported to the police who only learnt about the woman’s shooting by chance. There are also reports that the woman was shot when a relative’s gun went off accidentally. That relative has also not been located.
