Jagdeo agrees to be on PPP/C List of Candidates – at insistence of Party and supporters

“I WILL be part of the race. I am supporting the People’s Progressive Party. I will put every bit of energy and strength that I have in my body to make sure that (Donald) Ramotar remains the President of our country, and Elisabeth Harper becomes the Prime Minister.”

This was the contention of former President Dr Bharrat Jagdeo, at his last public appearance, the People’s Progressive Party/ Civic (PPP/C) Kitty Rally.
And he made good on his promise by acceding to requests of his Party and supporters to be on the PPP/C’s list of candidates, which was submitted to Chief Elections Officer (CEO), Mr Keith Lowenfield yesterday.
He however insists that he is not in favour of a return to the National Assembly.
“I maintain my position that I will not go into Parliament. I did not want to go on the list, but the Party and many of our supporters encouraged me to have my name on the list, because the thinking was that me not being on the list sent a signal that I was in some way distancing myself from the Party. I thought that this was important so I acceded to their request,” he told the Guyana Chronicle yesterday in an interview.
Prior to agreeing to the insistence of his Party and PPP/C supporters, the former president had indicated that his name will not be on the list of candidates.
“I will not be on the list… I have no intention of going into Parliament,” he had said, adding that he had not been included on the 2011 list.
“It was not my original decision to be on the list of candidates, but Party and membership convinced me to be part of the list of candidates,” Dr Jagdeo said.
Speculations have been rife regarding the future role Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo in managing the affairs of this nation, but his position remains an emphatic ‘no’ when it comes to resumption of public office in a political capacity.
Incumbent President Donald Ramotar recently announced that his predecessor, a former Finance Minister, had been appointed Chairman of the impending National Economic Council; and Dr. Jagdeo made it clear yesterday that he would serve in that capacity because he believes he has “some skills” he could leverage to support the new Government.
Dr Jagdeo yesterday made it clear that his position on holding a constitutional office has not changed.
“I remain fully engaged in the struggle of the PPP and I will support the party,” Dr Jagdeo emphasised. (Vanessa Narine)

Jagdeo is bad new for the PNC. He will prevent Moses from selling out twelve percent of Indos to a 99 Percent Afro based racist PNC.

Jagdeo is great news for the PPP. A popular two term President puts the opposition in a tailspin. This is a brilliant move by the PPP.

Fact is that Moses received sympathy votes in Berbice the last time around. Now that Moses is attempting to sell out Indos to the PNC, destroyed the AFC.

Moses will NEVER be able to deliver 12 Percent of Indos to the PNC. He can hide all day long behind a 99 Percent Afro motorcade but that is not going to help him. He just cannot deliver.

The campaign starts now. PPP is headed for a 53 Percent majority.

He is the opposition's worst nightmare. Their focus is on Bharat and he is popular with Indos. Who care about what Afros think of him ? They vote 99 Percent PNC anyway.

Remember this, Moses must deliver 12 Percent of Indos to he PNC. He has no support left in Berbice and hiding behind a 99 Percent Afro motorcade will not help.

This is at the heart of this campaign.

The PPP already has the Native votes secured.

The PNC can talk and carry around an Afro Motorcade but that does not win elections. Moses just cannot deliver 12 Percent of Indos to the PNC.

PNC is good for 40 Percent and AFC five.

Anyway, see you all this evening. Just about to head outside.

Bai TK, yuji22 is a brahmin and me is a chatree Hindu. Some of our deities are featured with many heads, left and right of the main one. That is symbolic, but to yuji it's real.

So, to yuji a 39% indo population looks like double. Donald got 2 heads and Bharrat got 3. So it goes.

If self identified black folks vote 99% APNU and the AFC brings in 5% who wins again? This fellow cannot do addition and subtraction...he is a bloody dunce. The AFC delivery system is bringing as many as it took in Region 6 last time from Region 3!
