Jammers upset Warriors in overtime to take title

Rose Hall Jammers created an upset in Berbice basketball on Sunday evening to win the A. Ally and Sons 2016 Basketball Tournament after being forced into overtime to win 44-42.
Randy Caesar with a game high of 16 points scored in the nick of time to see New Amsterdam Warriors equalize at the end of regulation time.
After trailing at the end of the first quarter 5-10, the Jammers fought themselves back to enjoy a one point lead at the end of the first half of the game (20-19).
The lead kept changing with every point scored and the Warriors were able to equalize (28-28) going into the third quarter.
The Jammers got their first 3-pointer (30-33) when David Hope found the basket from beyond the line. The lead was further enhanced when Raburn Marray scored another 3-pointer (32-38) with three minutes left on the clock.
With the lead the Jammers slowed down the game and went more on their defence, however Caesar was able to equalize with a few seconds left and the game was forced to go into extra time after they tied score (38-38).
For the winners, Stephon Fraser (10), David Hope (9) and Mickel Lewis (7) were the top scorers while Caesar received excellent support from Shamar France and Kwesi Mickle each scoring seven points. The MVP of the final was Mickel Lewis.
