Guyanaβs Kristian Jeffrey racing for the Radical Factory produced an inspiring performance to land his first podium spot, finishing second over the weekend, at the Rockingham Speedway in the MotorSport Vision Racing Club Championship Radical Challenge. However, he could not replicate that feat after being involved in an accident that affected the carβs performance in the other races. Jeffrey commenting on his performance said, βThere are a lot of quality drivers, especially in the top 10, ranging from ex LMP2 [Le Mans Prototype], Formula 3 champions etc. So qualifying was vital. We knew we had really good race pace.β Describing the race, he said after qualifying sixth on the grid, he knew that he had to remain consistent and eventually worked his way through the field to secure the second spot. According to him, that result was a confidence booster and he felt good ahead of the upcoming races, before the incident in the second race dashed his hopes of bettering his earlier performance. The former two-time Caribbean champion disclosed that the incident occurred as he approached Turn 1 when he was knocked from behind and the impact was serious enough to retire him in the race. Jeffrey said that he somehow managed to get the car ready just before the commencement of the final race where he placed seventh on the grid, but then the machine begun to experience handling issues, forcing him to drop back to 11th, before recovering to end fifth. Overall he said the weekend was a solid one made even better by having the opportunity to share the podium with Barbadian stalwart Stuart Maloney, who also campaigns in the Championship. Jeffrey expressed thanks to his dad Kevin, the team and all his supporters. He is scheduled to go to Budapest, Hungary for the next set of testing at the famous Hungaroring track that has played host to Formula 1 races.
