General Statement: 

Receives and issues bodies; assists during autopsies; keeps morgue and autopsy room clean and orderly; obtains supplies.

Job Duties:

1. Receives and releases bodies.

1. Transports bodies to be autopsied from the morgue to autopsy suite; prepares the body for autopsy; sews up and cleans body following autopsy; and transports body back to morgue.

1. Maintains and cleans morgue, autopsy, surgical specimen dissection, supplies, storage, and conference rooms.

1. May assist the pathologists in performance of autopsies, dissection, and handling of gross specimens.

1. Maintains and cleans equipment, instruments, and laboratory glassware.

1. Assures proper specimen labeling and storage.

1. May assist Histology Laboratory staff in washing glassware, obtaining supplies, and other maintenance procedures.

1. Responsible for maintenance of adequate supplies.

1. On call weekends, weekdays, evenings, and holidays as required.
