The Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) says it garnered over half a billion dollars from its 50/50 Jubilee payment plan for house lots.

Minister within the Ministry of Communities, with responsibility for housing, Valerie Sharpe-Patterson said that the agency took in $590M from the initiative.

The Minister, speaking to the Government Information Agency (GINA), said approximately 2,800 persons took advantage of the plan to pay off for their  low to middle income house lots, ranging from $59, 400 (allocated many years ago) to $1.2M.

CH&PA’s 50/50 Jubilee initiative was launched in February, and ended on June 2. It provided for persons who had paid 50 percent of the cost of their house lots by May 1, to be given a 50 percent discount on the balance.

Sharpe-Patterson told GINA that not all the eligible beneficiaries were able to complete their payment. She explained that though these persons paid 50 percent of the house lot cost by April, they were unable to fulfill the remaining 50 percent on their balance, before the promotion deadline, despite the CH&PA extending it by two days.

The Jubilee promotion was held, to encourage various house lots  allottees, to pay for their lots and provide them with savings that they could use towards starting construction of their homes. GINA said that the promotion was also facilitated to improve the liquidity of CH&PA, and to stimulate the construction boom.

Actually each person will save 25%  on their house lots, discount is 50% on balance for all persons who paid half down on their house lots.

CH&PA will loose 25%  well the land free,no big losses.

I guess giving away to RK,  buddy land or BK among others where they created Indian enclave were not redistribution!

It was state lands given away by the PPP but in default. It was a way of clearing the books otherwise the grantees would be in default and the next course would be to take it away.

Django bai, land not free when the cost of that free land is already spent. So who is picking up the cost of that 50% discount?

These poor people could not come up with 500 to a 1000 US. The Pradovillle II benefactors used millions state assets to lay down infrastructure  in the area. They paid some 180 million to move a Dish while giving themselves fire sale prices are the one we need to look at.
