Opposition Leader Jagdeo knew in advance the purpose of the consultation, yet he did not propose a nominee for the post of Acting Chief Justice. Instead, Jagdeo lectured to President Granger the criteria that he felt should be used to appoint a CJ.

When Cheddi Jagan was Opposition Leader, he used to submit nominees during the consultation process with Presidents Burnham and Hoyte.

Whenever Jagan's nominees were rejected, he was within his rights to protest in the press.

President David Granger met with the Leader of the Opposition, Bharrat Jagdeo at the Ministry of the Presidency today to determine the Judge who would be appointed to perform the functions of the Office of the Chief Justice during the leave of absence of Acting Chief Justice Ian Chang.

A release from the Attorney General’s Chambers said that at the meeting, the President nominated Justice of Appeal Yonette Cummings-Edwards primarily on the considerations that she is a woman with many years’ experience as a Puisne Judge of the High Court of the Supreme Court of Judicature, a Justice of Appeal of the Court of Appeal, her competency and professionalism.

PNC is preparing the courts for massive rigging.

Were any of Jagan's nominees ever appointed as Chief Justice when he was Opposition Leader?[No, but Dr Jagan still persisted with his own nominees when he was called for consultation. He didn't think it was a waste of time. When his nominees were rejected, he wrote about it in his Straight Talk column or letters to the press. In other words, he got propaganda value for the PPP.]

Did Jagdeo not say that Carl Singh is already a function of that role?

[Carl Singh is still substantive Chief Justice but he cannot perform as Chancellor and Chief Justice at the same time. Granger and Jagdeo agree on that point and that is why Ms Yonette Cummings-Edwards will be Acting CJ.]

I will quote what Jagdeo's House Negro said, when asked why the PPP didn't have blacks in leadership roles.  "Maybe there aren't any who are suitable".
