Jan 11, 2018 Sports, https://www.kaieteurnewsonline...e-support-than-ever/

The just concluded King-Medas Pansy Adonis Classic Guyana first ‘Junior Olympic Games’ which was held at the Buxton Community Centre Ground from the 14th to the 17th of December was not only hailed as a success, but have gained more support than anticipated.
The organisers would like to thank the many sponsors that have stepped up to give their support from the beginning. Among those lending support are: Sybils Bakery New York, Island Express New York, Smalta, Basil Bradshaw and the channel 9TV, Nostrand Paint Shop Brooklyn, Shelmac Photo Studio New York, Daddy’s Enterprise Guyana and Channel 2 Safe T.V.
The organisers also mentioned their many friends who contributed at MTA in all departments, also familywho contributed.
Mention was also made of Banks DIH Ltd, Kaieteur Newspapers, The National Sports Commission, The Ministry of Education allied arts division, the Officials who did a wonderful job, Dominique who uploaded all the videos to the website, Lorriann Adams, the camera crew who stood by in all the difficult situations and the strong support from Jamaica who send a Coach to Guyana, Michael Mc Intosh and miss Cynthia Cooke from Racers Track Club in Jamaica.
Organiser Andy Medas King informed that the support base havs grown so much that come the 20th to the 23rd of September 2018 at the Lusignan Community Center Ground they are going to put together another never seen before event. The National Sports Commission is fully committed on the orders of Mr. Christopher Jones and Mr. Brian Smith along with the Ministry of Education Allied Arts Division’s Nicholas Fraser and Banks DIH among others.
What we have also seen happening this year is the involvement of the University of Guyana who would be fielding a team for the first time. While at last year’s event we saw our first Wheelchair Participant. With the involvement of the Schools and University the organizers are hoping to tap in and expose the undiscovered talent that are hidden in Guyana, something that last year’s event was able to do. With the never before done in Guyana athletics history where athletes can go and see their time and videos on a website with the click of a button it is no wonder the games are unique.
Setting aside a day for field events is also back in the programme, not forgetting the turbo javelin which created quite a stir for the first time in the history of Guyana. Andy Medas-King said that once more sponsors comes on board he will take Guyanese athletes to win Olympic medals and is asking different stakeholders in the Private Sector to come on board and support this great National Event and let’s make it fun for all the athletes in Guyana.
While there were medals and trophies, all the athletes who took part in the event went home with at least one brand new T-Shirt. With the 2018 ‘Junior Olympic Games’ planned already the organizers are hoping to have this games streaming live.
