Komal Chand was indeed a good man.

Last time me see him was at the GAWU office in Kingston.  He told me their previous office had a fire and most of their archives, including old photographs were destroyed.  I presented him with  a large copy of  a photograph I took in July 1963 in front of Albion sugar factory. Where  about 100 men were protesting with  a large banner that read DOWN WITH MPCA - WE WANT GAWU, to certify a new union. I was told this certification did not take place until 1972. In return Komal gave me an autographed copy of Ashton Chase book on labour unions.

In Guyana at the time was a national strike and curfew.  Six British soldiers arrived to break up the illegal protest at Albion and in the process, I got stabbed in the stomach with a soldier's bayonet, while I continue to take more pictures.

RIP Komal.

This guy may have played a part in some serious proxy battles, representing Dr. Jorgan, against Boysie.  Nevertheless, my condolences to his family during this very sad time.  I heard some members of his family were severely injured in a home invasion not so long ago.  It is truly a double tragedy for them at this time.
