Kudos to the US Ambassador for speaking the truth

Dear Editor,
After years of propaganda, deceit, distortion and vulgar and unbecoming behavior from the intellectually bankrupt and immoral PPP cabal, we thought we have heard it all. We were wrong. This cabal has no shame whatsoever and this was highlighted by the cuss-down behavior exhibited by Pyria Manickchand at a dignified ceremony at the US Ambassador’s home to commemorate America’s 238 years of Independence. It is clear that this undignified PPP character has psychological problems that need urgent medical attention.
Her cuss-down and gutter approach to politics is sending the wrong signal to our children. If she cannot conduct herself like a stately lady and respect the citizens of Guyana how does she expects the children, especially our young girls to behave differently let alone have any respect for her? Children learn from their elders, especially those whom they expect to discipline and guide them in life.
Almost all the teachers and the children in both public and private schools have lost confidence in her. They are of the opinion that her flawed character and abusive behavior have made her unfit to be the Minister of Education. Not only does the Minister lack diplomatic skills, but she also does not have any skills whatsoever, other than her cuss-down-ghetto type talents which was on public display a few months ago in Parliament and last Wednesday at the US Ambassador’s residence.
We were reliably informed by one of our contacts at Freedom House that it was her former cuss-down boss and her who wrote the undignified and boorish speech.
This type of rancorous behavior has not only set Guyana back for decades in terms of diplomacy but has also embarrassed the nation. Her vulgarity and verbal abuse have not only damaged Guyana’s reputation in the Caribbean and elsewhere but has brought it to an all-time low. No minister of the government since Independence 48 years ago has ever indulged in such vulgar and abusive behavior towards a diplomat. It appears that the Minister’s mental faculty is deteriorating rapidly and if the leaders of the PPP love her as their comrade, then they should encourage her to seek psychological help immediately. There are many qualified psychologists who would willingly help her if she sought their assistance.
And for a certain columnist who hides his identity to say that the Ambassador deserves what he got is not only moronic but it shows that he is not intelligent enough to understand diplomacy.
We strongly believe that the US Ambassador is quite correct that Ramotar and his PPP cabal are inconsistent in their use of the Constitution. Ramotar has on numerous occasions refused to assent to Bills passed by Parliament and has not returned them to the Clerk of Parliament within 21 days as mandated by the Constitution.  On other occasions, he has cited frivolous reasons not to hold Local Government Elections. The willful delay of Local Government Elections after 20 years is a clear violation of the Constitution which states that the elections must be held every three years.
So kudos to Ambassador Brendt Hardt for speaking out against the cabal and for speaking for the 70 percent of the people of Guyana who want Local Government elections.
We call on all Guyanese to rise up and demand the immediate resignation of Ms. Manickchand for her obnoxious, vulgar and unbecoming behavior as a minister. As the Minister of Education, she has lost the confidence of teachers, parents and the children of Guyana.  It is time for her to step aside. The Education portfolio deserves a decent, respected and dignified individual and not someone who is vulgar and abusive.
