Contracts for drugs, Amaila Falls road cleared by Cabinet

Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon on Thursday said Cabinet had cleared two contracts in the health and public works sectors, including one valued over $1B for the procurement of medical supplies.
According to the Government Information Agency (GINA), Dr Luncheon advised that Cabinet, at its Tuesday, May 29, statutory meeting, offered no objections to a contract valued $1.3B for the procurement of drugs and medical supplies for the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. In the public works sector, a contract valued $832.8M for the construction of the Amaila Falls access road β section seven also received a no-objection.
Meanwhile, Luncheon clarified a statement he made at his Wednesday, May 23 press briefing, where he had said that Cabinet had given the go-ahead for the award of US$132,000 for the acquisition of 53 bulls for the agriculture ministryβs Agriculture Export Diversification Programme. However, the number of bulls is actually 33.
