I remember as a younger man, this was mandatory reading. We use to read about how Harold Davis that DAAG was abusing the sugar workers.
He died with his eyes open and dribbling.
Any body remember WFTU? This organization sent money for GAWU for months to support the sugar strikes.
The last page says - Skeldon - target - 8,871 tonnes. Actual achieved to date - ZERO.
That is Grangerism for you.

I cannot forget the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) and I have a story to tell.
In 1974, at the request of Cheddi Jagan, I was doing some volunteer work for GAWU. I was helping union president Harry Lall and General Secretary Maccie Hamid craft press releases, letters etc. At that time GAWU office was a small building immediately west of GIMPEX. Another PPP-controlled union, the Guyana Public Service Workers Union (GPSWU) occupied office space there too.
GPSWU President was an old bespectacled man named Rampersaud and its GS was Edwin Victor James who doubled up as a PPP organizer for GT.
So, up to that time GAWU was not officially affiliated to the WFTU although it had submitted an application long before. One day, Edwin James told me the GPSWU wanted to apply for WFTU membership and he asked me to draft the letter. i wrote it on the spot. He typed and signed and mailed it to Prague. Lo and behold, a few months after, a beaming James showed me correspondence confirming that the GPSWU was accepted as a new WFTU member. More than that, it was publicized in the WFTU monthly magazine.
Now, instead of jubilation, that caused a problem arising out of jealousy from the GAWU leadership.
Those were some great days. There needs to be combat newspaper in every PPP household every month. It should be mandatory reading for all party members.
