While our democracy is still in its adolescent stage, democratic rights and norms are privileges not many are responsible enough to delegate as is currently being witnessed by APNU/AFC leadership and certain media houses. They are preying on isolated cases of minor administrative hiccups by the government in an attempt at galvanizing a type of revolution intended on furthering their unconstitutional scheme to access executive power through the back door and or window, if possible. This is a classic case of “gutter politics” being practiced by the opposition and its racist, extremist fringe. It is a desperate and violent abuse of their one seat majority that has not worked and will never work in a democratic Guyana.

What a mule headed cow! Are not most of those people in the opposition in the service of their party for decades? Are there other than working class in Guyana? Note the only Patrician class are those in the PPP who were formerly working class stiffs as poor as church mice who stole their way into the patrician class. Now they concern themselves more with sententious squealing that any suggestions to limit their leech status is an infringement of basic civil rights.

The grotesqueness of this is the President's open ended pension which at its base is about 3 million per month while the poor working stiff gets a mere 10K. Sorry, the PPP has no working class politicians. It has a class of Sybarites, full of ostentation and primped pomposity.

Further, the appeal to their legitimacy as our resident King and his court is on the dictatorial construct of the prevailing constitution. Lets be clear as to what they insist is their right; they insist they are independent of the legislature ie, parliament has no authority to aid in the crafting of the budget or objecting to any line item etc. In short, the President is king and his court gets to do what it wants with no authority anywhere in the kingdom to rein in their excesses.

Only a moron as the above poster will call our elected dictatorship a democracy. If the legislature cannot check the -president, if the money from state agencies cannot be placed in a consolidated account from which appropriations are made based on need and supervised via the auspices of the parliament; where is the democratic ideal of accountability? NOte, none of the prevailing projects have any oversight except the king and his clown court in his cabinet. This government is the antithesis of a democracy.
