Letter to the Sports Editor… HILBERT FOSTER IS NO CRICKET ADMINISTRATOR

Dear Sports Editor,
When someone suggest T20 cricket should be played from the Under-13 age group all the way to the top, it is obvious that they do not have a clue about the learning curve of a young cricketer. There is a reason why T20 cricket is played at the senior level only and I would not waste my time explaining as any average cricket administrator would have the answer.
Mr. Hilbert Foster thinks that T20 cricket should start at this level because all he sees is an opportunity to make money with marketing the Festival cricket and not about developing cricketers.
Everyone on the Corentyne knows that Foster and RHTYSC purge all the talented cricketers from the Upper Corentyne and surrounding areas and then advertise them as being produced by this club.
Some of us have pride but others do not bother as it is a business to live off the blood of sufferers.
Hilbert Foster knows all the donors in this country and has done well to garner money out of them and businesses that do not pay keen attention to how their contributions are spent. Berbice cricket has a certain prestige attached to it and we should not let anyone use it to enrich themselves or bring it into disrepute.
I am aware of Foster’s dictatorial instincts and he can sometimes be so convincing to the general public with his self- produced press releases that even the newspapers publishing them have been hoodwinked on a constant basis.
During the presidency of big brother Keith, Hilbert established a special events committee of the BCB that was used as the unofficial fund raising arm.
It was never audited but pittance went to cricket development. The power of BCB was given to RHTYSC and competitions were controlled and organized through the club usurping the functions of the BCB. Hilbert Foster set the venues, umpires and fixtures for competitions.
We cannot let this happen again!!!
Hilbert Foster is an opportunist, not a cricket administrator.
Berbice cricket needs a level headed, honest person to mend bridges and empower the many cricket playing clubs to assist in moving our cricket forward.
Yours in Sports,
Godwyn Allicock.
