The Auditor General’s report on the Public Accounts for 2022 cited a number of cases including the New Demerara River Crossing.

The report tabled in Parliament recently said that the sum of $21.1b was provided last year for the New Demerara River Bridge and according to the appropriation accounts the full amount was expended as at December 31, 2022.

“However audit checks revealed that amounts totalling $8.327 billion were expended while the sum of $12.673 billion was transferred into an Escrow Account held at the Bank of Guyana.

@Ramakant-P, Why three lanes and not four?

The sum of $12.673 billion was transferred into an Escrow Account held at the Bank of Guyana.

This would never be allowed in your province of Ontario or Canada.

Your boys must be thankful to Burnham for the Constitution that he gifted them.

The middle lane will be used depending on which side the traffic is flowing, Just like the lanes on the Peace Bridge going to and from the USA.

What is good for the goose is good for the gander. The Auditor General didn't specify how the money was used. The Government has the right to use the money as it sees fit.  I don't have any problem with how they spend the money.

Am glad you mention the Peace Bridge. You would think your boyz would have studied it and observe the problems. The Peace Bridge could use better lane controls and signals to help lines form. Sometimes there is a slow down a mile or two from the bridge. The single lane or both lanes are filled with trucks. At some point one lane becomes a truck only lane. I doubt Guyana has the capacity to deal with this logistic problem. Building 3 lanes on the Peace Bridge is a colossal Engineering mistake. Shame that your boys can't learn from the mistakes of others.

The lanes move pretty fast. The bridge was designed to accommodate thousands of cars and trucks. In Guyana, there are just a handful of cars.
