All of the major stables in Guyana are on board as systems fall in place for the Four Horsemen one Day Emancipation Horserace Meet. The event which is slated for Tuesday 1st August at the Port Mourant (Big Yard) Turf Club, Corentyne Berbice, has so far attracted over 50 entries. The seven race Meet has a prize package of over $5M in cash, trophies and other incentives up for the taking and an action packed day of racing is anticipated. With that in focus the authorities are giving it their all as they push in final preparations for the big event. Most of the sprucing up work has already been completed. Among the top stables on board with multiple entries are -The Jumbo Jet stable, the Elcock / Poonai stable, The Inshan Bacchus Stable, the Shariff Stable, Singh Racing Stable, the Nand Persaud Karibee Rice Stable, The Jagdeo Stable, the Vibert Stable, the Crawford stable the Night Eyes Stables, The Saul, Habibulla, Bactowar racing stables among others. The feature event is for animals classified E3 non-winners for 2016 and 2017 which also caters for animalsβ classified F and G that has not earned over $500,000 for 2017. Among the line up so far are Storm Bird, Media Day, Climate Change, Itβs MY Turn, Bridgestone Corner, Cat Messiah, Because I Say So, Super Bowl and Midnight Blues all excellent runners with most being in the winning enclosure already. Picking a winner will be any one guess. The distance is 1300M for a winning take of $350,000 and trophy compliments of Banks DIH Limited. The other events will see the 3 years old Guyana Bred animals galloping over 1300 meters for a winning take of $300,000 and trophy. The animals classified H3 and lower over 1200M running for a first prize of $300,000 and trophy. The 2 yrs old Guyana bred animals will be racing over 900M for a $250,000 reward and trophy. The race for I3 & lower animals will be a 1200M affair for a wining prize of $200,000 and trophy. The J3 and lower animals and those 4 years and older and K class will be racing over 1100M for a winning prize of $150,000 over 1100M. The L class non earners of $150,000 in 2017 will be racing for a winning take of $120,000 and trophy over 1200M. Meanwhile, the Delmur Trading and Shipping Company have handed over their sponsorship for the event to the organisers at a simple ceremony in Berbice. Doing the honours for the Company was Secretary Loresa Mohabir, while well known jockey Paul Delph collected on behalf of the organising committee. Other sponsors on board are Banks DIH Limited, Just Water, Toolsie Persaud Limited, Cummings Electrical, Attorney at Law R.N Poonai Fazal Habibulla of Hablaw Meat Center and Rising Sun Cattle Ranch, Assuria Insurance Incorporated, Sankar Auto Works βValvoline, Fix It Hard Ware and Bothers Incorporated among others. The top jockey along with the runner up, the top stable and champion trainer will all be presented with trophies and other incentives compliments of the organisers.
