A man escaped death after an early morning accident that left him with minor head injuries and an entirely wrecked car.
The accident involving a 212 Toyota corolla motor car bearing registration plates PLL 4642 occurred around 03:00h on Saturday morning on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown.

The driver in an attempt to avoid a head on collision with another vehicle approaching from the opposite direction, swerved and ended up under a container that was parked on the southern side of the road. The container reportedly bore no reflectors to signal the obstruction of traffic.
According to sources, the man was the only occupant of the car at the time of the accident. He was taken to a private city hospital where a comprehensive medical examination was conducted to determine possible injuries. The man was treated and sent home.
It was also noted that the man was heading home after a visit to his girlfriend’s home when the accident occurred.
A name, however, was not released for the driver. Investigations are continuing.
