Marks century propels Farm to huge win as MYO/Baksh Memorial softball continues

Lennox Marks stroked a fine century to lead Farm to a 163-run victory over Grove when the Muslim Youth Organisation/Amanat Baksh Memorial Inter-Jamaat 10/10 softball tournament continued on Sunday last at MYO and GNIC SC.
Marks slammed six fours and 21 sixes in a robust unbeaten 178 as Farm piled up 226 without loss, batting first. Rawle Reid hit three fours and six sixes in a scoring 55 not out. Grove were limited to 63-8 in reply. Imran Khan made 27 and Erasto King 19; Buddan Baksh claimed 2-5.
Farm beat Land of Canan by nine wickets. Land of Canan took first strike and made 103-6. Irfan Shaw made 43 (1×4, 4×6) and Nazeer Mohamed 19; Ameer Khan had 2-4 and Sheldon Perch 2-16. Farm responded with 107-1 in 4.5 overs in reply. Marks slammed 11 sixes in an unbeaten 70, while Buddan Baksh made 18 not out.
New Amsterdam beat Wakenaam by 10 wickets. Wakenaam batted first and made 55-9. Ansar Khan made 19; Yassim Yassin claimed 3-12 and Abid Singh 2-5. New Amsterdam responded with 62 with out lost. Carl Gilgeous struck 51 not out.
Adventure overcame Wakenaam by 152 runs. Adventure batted first and posted 181-3. Imran Mohamed clobbered three fours and 11 sixes in scoring 83 while Dovendra Mohan made 38, Zameer Mohamed 24 and Shaz Grosvenor 23. Seon Venture picked up one wicket. Wakenaam were bowled out for 29 in 5.1 overs in reply. Mohamed Saud Baksh grabbed 4-4, Eshwaas Thomas 3-14 and Leyland Mc Donald 2-4.
Grove got the better of Queenstown by 27 runs. Grove took first turn at the crease and mustered 124-6. Imran Khan made 39 (4×4,2×6) and Erasto King 25 (2×4,2×6). Abid Haniff took 2-17. Queenstown were restricted for 97-5 in reply. Umar Kadir made 25 (3×6) and Mohamed Najab 19; Khan captured 2-14 and Shemeer Ghanie 1-14.
The competition continues on Sunday.
