Raul Leal cantered to victory in the school boys and invitational 35-lap feature race in One Hour 17 Minutes 56.94 Seconds yesterday when the 14th edition of the Massy / Seven Seas National Park Cycle Meet was held.
In recording victory, Leal bettered last year’s time of 1hr 18m 15.26s that was achieved by Michael Anthony.
Trailing Leal to the line to close out the top six positions were Jamal John, Shaquel Agard, Alanzo Ambrose Deeraj Garbarran and Paul De Nobrega. John captured four of the eight sprint prizes with two going to Garbarran and one each to Ambrose and De Nobrega.
The juvenile 10-lap contest, which saw a winning time of 23 Minutes 11 Seconds recorded by Nigel Duguid, saw last year’s winner, Briton John having to settle for the runner-up position with Marcus Keiler taking the final podium spot.
Prior to the presentation, Ms. Nirvana Thakur, Products Specialist attached to Massy Distribution extended appreciation to the cyclists for their commitment and dedication to the sport.
She promised their continued support to race organiser, Hassan Mohamed. (F. Wilson)
