Host Tapeball tomorrow to celebrate return
The Mental Cricket Club, which produced the left-handed Leonard Bachian, one of Berbice’s 18 Test players, was recently resuscitated with a new executive installed to run the once famous club at the bottom of the Canje Bridge.
The club will celebrate its return to Berbice Cricket by hosting a 10/10 “Masters League” Tapeball Cricket Competition tomorrow at the All Saints Scott Church Ground which will be played under lights.
The intention is to get corporate companies more involved in the development of cricket in Berbice. The teams participating are Oldendorff Carriers, Regional Health Services, Massy Group of Companies, J’s Supermarket and Guyana Revenue Authority.
The winners will walk away with $200,000 cash and a trophy donated by Director of Sports Christopher Jones, while the Runners-up receive $100,000 and a trophy donated by Sara J Enterprise.
Trophies will be presented to the MVP, Best Batsman, Best Bowler and Man of the Match for all the Games.
The Regional Chairman David Permaul Armogan has come on board and has donated a trophy for the Team that exemplifies the Best “Spirit of the Game” and these teams are comprised of staff members.
Corona Beer will provide beverages, while DJ Heavy and Hot Skull will entertain the fans with pulsating music and admission is free.
