Guyana & SVG discuss initiative to market common tourism package

Tourism Minister of St Vincent & The Grenadines, Cecil Mckie, in discussion with Tourism Minister (ag) Irfaan Ali and JosÉ MarÍa FernÁndez LÓpez de Turiso, Ambassador of Spain to Trinidad and Tobago:

Guyana & SVG discuss initiative to market common tourism package

TOURISM Minister (ag) Irfaan Ali and his counterpart from St Vincent and The Grenadines (SVG), Cecil McKie, yesterday held discussions on formalising a joint initiative to market a common tourism package for both sister Caricom countries.

Both ministers concurred that combining the two products would make both destinations more competitive and appealing on the international market, since the two countries share similar features in most aspects. St. Vincent and The Grenadines (SVG) is known for its lush tropical rainforest which is full of eco-adventures; and its idyllic beaches, coral reefs and turquoise lagoons are a tropical paradise for yachting, scuba diving, enjoying nature, and relaxing in luxurious hideaways.

Guyana is a fantastic eco and nature tourism destination which boasts an impressively fascinating combination of pristine Amazonian rainforests, immense waterfalls, and amazing flora and exotic fauna blended with a vibrant indigenous culture that is rich in heritage.

Each country is in the process of improving its international airport. Whilst Guyana is implementing an absolutely essential upgrade of its facilities, SVG is completing a new international airport.

Ministers Ali and McKie spoke of the immense potential these airport facilities will fulfill for the two countries. In lauding Guyana’s recent successes in this area, McKie was especially delighted at the possibility of having similar arrangements with COPA on completion of SVG’s new airport. COPA is set to start operation in Guyana in July 2014.

Guyana will surpass its expectations in the tourism industries in the near future. Once again, our minister is not sitting on his fat ass doing nothing. I know some of you will find nothing good to add, but to blight this possibility.

COPA is going to promote their 200 seats to Guyanese wanting to shop and who don't want the hastles of a US visa to go to MIA. Guyanese who live in cities other than NYC served by COPA will love it.

Irfaan confirms that he is a moron by thinking that South Americans will pour into Guyana (that is other than those marketing certain powdery substances) just because he says so.  What does Guyana have to offer a would be South American visitor.  Birds"  Got them and more in the deep Amazon.

Somebody tell Irfaan to stop making the Belizeans and Costa Ricans risk choking themselves to death with laughter at how foolish he is.

As to SVG.  Like Guyana they have spent loads on an airport, and in his case, he will have to pay the airlines to fly there as, unlike Guyana, his population of overseas nationals isn't enough to be of interest.  Wish him luck, but he might have driven the last nail into the coffin of that pretty little volcano poking out of the sea, with a few THOUSAND Guyanese living there too.

The PPP won 60% of the votes in 2011 and CONTROLS parliament and so don't have to beg APNU/AFC to pass the AML.  yeah right.

Apparently your wishes and predictions aren't worth much.  Guyana has been talking about tourism for over 10 years and NO PROGRESS has been made!

Why are you contradicting yourself with tourism and anti-money laundering bill? It's not the end of the world that people should sit and wait for small favors.

No contradiction.  Just telling you that your predictions are silly as we can see from our current political situation.

When parties stay in power too long they get arrogant, corrupt and incompetent.  The PPP has been around for 22 years, longer than every other governing party in CARICOM.

The PPP has served its time.  PLEASE GO!!!!!
