Yesterday, President Mohamed Irfaan Ali PhD delivered a lecture in the town of Bartica. I was astonished to hear that the president, fresh from his return of Los Angeles, said that gas prices in the United States are up to $11.00 per gallon. As a citizen of the United States, and one who is currently living in Los Angeles, I can assure the president has delivered a misstatement to the Guyanese People. The price of gas hoovers around $6.69 per gallon. Dr Ali should make some corrections to such misinformation. Today, with the availability of social media, his remarks are globally resonated. Therefore, the president should be leery of making such bold and unsubstantiated statements while addressing his nation.
