When I leave Guyana, East Bank Demerera was just a stretch of old wooden, unpainted houses and a single road that a car can easily run off the road and into either side of the gutter. I remember Diamond Estate, and the sweep smell of sugar came is certainly refreshing until you pass the fowl farm where it smells like shit. But it's still my Guyana.
The areal view of EBD today demonstrate the transformation of Guyana into a developed country that I once remembered. Guyana's developments can be seen in G/T, EBD, and throughout the country, and yet, the development continues non-stop.
I may not agree with everything about Guyana, but I do agree with the current pace of the infrastructure developments, the extension of roadways, Eco-tourism, Alternative energy, and the expansion of our main port of entry. God bless Guyana.
