Mixed results at Round 3 of CMRC at Bushy Park

Sep 06, 2016, Sports, http://www.kaieteurnewsonline....-cmrc-at-bushy-park/

Bushy Park Circuit, Barbados – Guyana’s Superbike riders Elliott and Matthew Vieira dominated the category to head to the final leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) slated for November in Guyana in strong positions to capture the overall titles following the conclusion of the third leg, at Bushy Park, Barbados.

Elliott raced to victory in two of the three events, while Matthew claimed one first and two second places to be crowned champion rider which was enough to catapult him into the lead in the points standing.

Meanwhile, Group 4 was dominated by Barry Mayers in the AWD category by going 3 wins in 3 races with 2 overall wins. The 33-year-old, Barry Mayers in the Chefette Restaurants sponsored Suzuki SX4 went to overtake Mark Maloney in the 3rd race to sweep the days’ action, but spun out and had to settle for 2nd overall.  Whereas, the veteran, Mark Maloney annihilated the 2WD category with successive class wins with an impressive overall race win in the final Group 4 race. By sweeping the 2WD category, by the end of the 2016 campaign, Mark Maloney will certainly claim the class wins in the Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championships.

Group 3 of the CMRC was swept by Paul Vieira with 3 convincing wins as he went unchallenged whereas, Group 2 action was mostly battled by Marc Gill and Mark Thompson.

On the biker’s side of things, Elliott & Matthew Vieira were the standouts of the day.  Two new debuts by some young and up and coming drivers were made with decent results.  Bridget Singh (daughter of Ravi Singh) made her debut in a Honda Civic with decent results in Group 2 Action as she ended up around the mid-pack with her results.  In Group 4 action, Zachary Frankie Boodram (son of Franklyn Boodram) had a disastrous day.  The first race was going very well until another competitor collided with him causing some damages.  Thereon, he battled in the next 2 races, but came away with 3 DNF’s due to multiple issues.

Kristian Jeffrey had a lackluster day in both series.  Of note, he runs both (SR3 Cup with the Radical & the Swift Cup).

Here are the results in the Suzuki Challenge SR3 Cup & Swift Cup results at Bushy Park, Barbados
