Visiting Guyanese robbed hours after touching down at CJIA

October 31, 2013 | By | Filed Under News

The holiday plans of two overseas-based Guyanese were shattered when bandits attacked them just after they had touched down in the land of their birth.

The two men Sureshpaul  Latchman, 28 and Baldeo Latchman, 44, were pounced upon by bandits just as they were about to enter the relatives’ home at Hope West, Enmore, East Coast Demerara, around 22:00 hours.

Two of their hosts, Mohan Latchman and Brijmohan Latchman were also attacked when they went to their assistance.

Reports reaching this newspaper stated that the two visitors were picked up at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, by the two other victims earlier on Tuesday night.

Just as they arrived at their destination three men who were waiting in a car attacked them. Two of the men were carrying guns. They relieved the Latchmans of four cellular phones, a gold chain, and two wallets containing cash and documents. In the process, Brijmohan Latchman sustained injuries to his head after he was gunbutted when he tried to put up resistance.

Police are probing how the bandits were able to know exactly where the visitors were going, especially since they had given a different address when they entered Guyana.

It was widely believed that the bandits were working in collaboration with persons at the airport who would inform them of the intended addresses of incoming passengers so that they can smoothly carry out their robberies.

However, in this recent case the police are almost convinced that it was an inside job.

Meanwhile, police officials divulged that similar instances of robbery were reported recently, and as such, they will be monitoring all of the CJIA early morning flights, especially with the expected increase in visitors for the upcoming Christmas season in mind.

According to a senior police official, they will try to synchronise their patrols and roadblocks between the time the flights arrived to the estimated time that the passengers should reach their destinations.

The afc/pnc have reached a new low as their organization are carrying out a campaign of terror against those returning on holiday. What they do is collect the manifest of aircrafts arriving in Guyana and identify victims. Thorough diligent research, such as being done in the Kaiteur to expose alleged corruption in the PPP, they identify the victim's destination and set up the robberies.  Ever since the police have been cracking down on their drug operations they have now shifted operations to robbing the common citizens.

Check with the white power captain, rohee and the CANU head extended family....The only research you now is how to delude yourself that the concoction of these tales serve the PPP well.  Fabricating lies does not work. The real crooks and their associates are known thy those who count, the guyanese people.

What turns me off is that more innocent and hard working people are being targeted by bandits and nothing is being done to protect them from death and robbery. The Airport incident is definitely a setup from the Inside. They should have an internal investigation at the Airport from the top down, and have undercover stationed at the Airport in every division 24/7 from now throughout the Christmas season. All these roadblocks they're talking about is bullshit. You have to be where the problem is and that is from the Airport itself. You need to fire these people and put their picture in the newspaper for all to see. These employees who gave out passengers info to criminals are criminals themselves and they must be fired and dealt with accordingly. This is a lot of ****ery going on in Guyana.

Isn't the PPP running the government?

I don't care who is running the government. We have a crisis and whoever is in charge is not their job to protect the citizens from internal criminals. If they're afraid to investigate the airport manager and find out how the passenger's info is leaking out to outside criminals, they should all get fired on the spot.
