Mohamed narrowly misses ton but Everest CC claim first innings in drawn encounter

Saheed Mohamed fell three runs short of a century but his efforts were enough to give Everest CC first innings points over Georgetown Cricket Club as the teams played to a tame draw when action in the Georgetown Cricket Association Noble House Sea Foods second division two-day tournament last weekend.
Mohamed struck eight fours and three sixes in his innings and got support from Dwayne Adams 33 as host Everest CC posted 213 all out batting first. Stephon Wilson claimed 4-25 and Marlon Persaud 3-64. GCC were bowled out for 153 in 65.3 overs in reply. Persaud stroked six fours and one six in a top score of 51, while Timothy Mc Almont made 50; Adams captured 3-21, Mohamed 2-36 and Javed Rasheed 2-39. Batting a second time Everest CC were 141-6 at stumps on the second and final day. Mohamed scored 46 including three fours and a similar number of sixes, while Khemraj Ramdeen was unbeaten on 35 and Kevin Paul 18 not out.
At DCC, the home team defeated Transport Sports Club by two wickets. Transports SC scored 150 all out after they were asked to bat. Joel Spooner led with 51, while Anthony Antonio made 30 as Dexter George snared 4-31, Carlton Jacques 2-14 and Xavie Smith 2-38.
DCC were bowled out for 118 in reply. Dennis Squires made 50 and Smith 19. Pacer Mark Baptiste bagged 6-20 and Spooner 3-35. Transport SC were sent packing for 65 in reply. Mark Ramsammy made 15; Xavie Smith bagged 6-21, Jacques 2-15 and George 2-21. Set 97 to win, DCC finished on 98-8 in the last hour of the match. George was unbeaten on 44, while Jacques made 20; Spooner claimed 4-25 and Azeem Azeez 3-15.
