The Delhi High Court on Friday refused to entertain a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) for an investigation into the death of veteran Bollywood actress Sridevi, saying the authorities in India and Dubai have already looked into the incident.

A bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar dismissed the petition that had claimed that the actor’s death was a matter of national interest.

The plea was submitted by Uttar Pradesh native Sunil Singh, who claims to have acted in and directed a few movies and runs cinemas and visual-effect studios.

He has said in his petition that he was in Dubai on a family vacation from February 20 to February 26 when he came to know of Sridevi’s death.

The actor had died on February 24 due to accidental drowning in her hotel bathtub.

The petitioner has alleged that after he spoke to hotel staff, officials at the hospital where the actress was taken, and others associated with the incident, he had received information that was contrary to what was reported in the media.

Due to this, he had filed the petition for a probe into her death, it said.

Sridevi lived in pain and died in grief, says uncle
Web Report /Mumbai

The uncle of late Bollywood actress Sridevi has claimed that she lived in pain because of husband Boney Kapoor and died in grief.

In an interview with Telugu news channel, Venugopal Reddy said that there was lot of pain behind her smile.

Sridevi died of drowning in a bathtub in Dubai on February 24 at the age of 54.

"What we knew was Boney Kapoor lost a lot of money in few films and they sold Sridevi's properties to make up for the losses. And Sridevi always had that pain in her heart. Sridevi lived in pain and passed away with a lot of pain in her heart. She was not at peace. She wore a smile on her face for the world but she went through a lot inside her," he told the channel according to Bombay Times.

"Boney produced a film which never saw the light of the day, and they were financially going through a tough phase. Sridevi sold her properties and cleared those debts to get life back on track. And that was the main reason why Sridevi got back to acting in films," he added.

So sad.  Maybe was suicide?  All the glitz and glamour does not shield anyone from real-life's pains.

So true, when you smile the whole world smiles with you, when you cry, you cry alone!

Boney should have been detained and questioned, there are many unanswered questions. How much was she insured for ? Who will get that money ?

Only if they had reasonable suspicion.  I believe though, there should be a more in-depth investigation and report.  He life deserves more than just a simple death announcement.

No word on her life Insurance, but notably she left her property in Chennai to her SISTER, and not Boney.  Seems something was brewing.

But she had grown kids.  Why would she not leave for them?  Even if she don’t trust the husband, then put in a trust for them.

Some people, not Indians.  Happens all over. Ask OJ if you don’t believe!

Bollywood is a lot of competition now for the indian dollar. Sony making Bollywood movies now.  Kapoor was probably finding it hard to compete with these giants.

How does a normal, healthy woman who takes good care of herself drown in a bath tub.  How deep was the tub?

It is no secret that Boney had financial problems and SriDevi has to sell a few properties to bail him out. She probably left that house in her sisters name just in case.

Boney knows a lot more about her death and as such should have been questioned or detained.

I agree. When I first heard accidental drowning, I thought was some outdoor boating incident.  Only two possibilities, suicide or foul play.  There should be an investigation.

Problem now though, if the Dubai police did not document marks on the body, evidence lost forever!

Understood, but no reason not to leave it in a trust for the kids with the sister as the Administrator.  He cannot touch it and the kids will get it in time.

But that's her choice!

Bit-bit the accidental theory of her death is opening to more controversies for a thorough investigation. I personally don't believe the death results from all the details that came out after. Lots of money passed hands in Dubai to Bombay, and who knows who is keeping a tight lid on the case.
