– $1M reward posted for arrest of perpetrators
Kaieteur News publisher Glenn Lall has posted a $1M reward for information that can lead to the arrest of three bandits, who terrorised and robbed the family of one of his staffers, after invading their Little Diamond, East Bank

Demerara home at around 03.00 hrs yesterday.
Victorine Narine and her two daughters, aged 26 and 18, along with her mother, were bound and placed to lie on the floor, while the robbers, armed with two handguns and a cutlass, ransacked their home.
The elder daughter was also struck in the face with a handgun.
The intruders, who also feasted on snacks and beverages, eventually escaped with an undisclosed sum of cash and jewellery.
Mrs. Narine’s husband, who is a Kaieteur News employee, was not at home when the attack occurred.
The robbers gained entry by prising out a grill from a window in the bottom flat of the two-storey property.
Victorine Narine said she was asleep in her bedroom when she was awakened by her eldest daughter’s screams. Mrs. Narine said that she immediately realised that intruders were in the house.
“I came out (of the bedroom) hollering, because I knew what had happened,” she said.
On running into the hallway, she was confronted by a masked man with a cutlass. Two other men with handguns held her eldest daughter and mother. They also brought the 18-year-old daughter from her bedroom.

She said that the robbers immediately ordered them to hand over their cell phones, and also disabled the landline. They then began demanding money and jewellery, while repeatedly asking about the whereabouts of “the man for the house.”
One of the robbers struck the eldest girl with his firearm. They then ordered the women, including the 18-year-old, to lie on the floor.
The men spent about an hour ransacking the rooms, and also eating, before escaping with money, jewellery, the victims’ cell phones and other valuables.
Detectives later lifted a number of fingerprints from the scene, but up to press time, had made no arrests.
In the wake of the robbery, Kaieteur News publisher Glenn Lall said that he was putting up a $1M reward for information that would lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
He can be contacted on telephone number 624-6456, and assured that the identities of those providing information would be kept confidential.

Revelation of crime has you a bit uneasy. You have no shame whatsoever, at least speak out on the slaughter on Indos under the PNC.

Are you afraid of two, Harmonim and DAG ?

I have a bad feelings about this crime situations... Politics is a nasty and dangerous game.

1. Type of people getting rob.

These are prominent people who will bring more awareness to what's going on.

FM

I . Essequibo couple that was burned... these are well know community people. Sources claim this couple gives so much to society.

Why burn them???

2. Kaieteur News  employees that was rob yesterday!!! is this a plan by a group  to have Glen Lall publishing about these crime wave and drive fears to Indians and law abiding citizens.

If they arrest the criminals, the police need to get to the bottom and a investigation should be launch and must be done in public.

One brilliant comment so far, anyone else.  Thank you Point  Blank.

Bhai i mentioned many times "bring back the hangman"

We should not be about killing people. It is not a deterrent. Catching the hooligans and proper processing for a conviction and a long duration behind bars is more a deterrent.

Georgetown is small with very few outlets. If we had on the street block patrols with radios and patrol cars on the move with a good crime reporting system, this would not happen. We have a poor compromised police force and the criminals have the upper hand.

I also thinks that's not the route to be taken [i called out a few times,it should be back, maybe out of frustration]

The criminals have no regard for life, they set a house on fire killing two occupants, shot another in a robbery incident, what message should be sent to these predators,on a daily basis they kill, damn take what you want and leave.Too much guns in the wrong hands some moles needed to infiltrate these scums to rat them out.

I guess you miss this.

In Canada I can still leave my windows open and doors unlocked, I travel any part of Toronto without fear. Amral, can you do that in Guyana???The most fearful thing is to walk the busy streets of Georgetown, you have the motobikes gangs, before you can blink the thieves are gone and the Guyanese public are scared, they would see but don't talk. The police would arrive on bicycle one hour later.A lot of people left Guyana for economic  and security reasons, I never hear people like Canada for the SNOW. The crime in Guyana is Government controlled, in other words you speak against the government, they will shot you up, they will terrorize you and family. Today, the crimes are mainly against Indians and if and when the criminals are caught ,they are Blacks, they know chances are Granger will pardon them.

At the end of May lets compare the crime stats from May 2015-May 2016. And 2014-2015 May

Who would believe this gov't stats?? everything is honky dory. For the next few months they have every reason to keep the crime figures down, they NEED to attract Tourists for the BIG celebration in May.

In Guyana, you can pay someone $ 50 G to kill. That simple.

Granger has wealth of experience and is Harmon... what are they doing.

The media and every organization speaking about crime, but no one is coming up with solutions.

It's already down 14% for the first quarter of 2016 vs 2015 but some folks pretend that crime started in Guyana after May 2015.

Drugs and guns made crime spiral out of control in the 90's. The PPP turned a blind eye to the drug trade because it was bringing in massive revenue to the country. They didn't give a shit about the social effects it had on the country. They could always blame crime on blacks/PNC anyway so it was a win win situation for them.

Guyana is no more a crime haven than USA or Cda.  So get real guys. We just see what we want to see

Amral, I think that you are wrong about the observation you made. I lived in Canada many years, did not have bars on my doors and windows, did not worry who was following me when I left a business or a bank, etc. In Guyana, crime is rife, and many are not reported or do not make the headlines. Cannot trust anyone, even the police, close employees, sometimes not even your close friends and family members. Many kids are growing up in this environment where they think the small things are OK and as they grow up, through a process of gradualism, they move on to bigger things.

I have lived here on Guyana for seven years now and everyday is a day to worry about crime. You have to worry even if you do not have money because of the violence that is often associated with the deeds.

When i left in 1996 drugs[white stuff] was not so prevalent.

Do not believe the statics that you get from any government department. The way it works here is that they set the target and then collect the data to match the target. Any excess becomes irrelevant. That is why there is no real or sustained progress or a major disconnect between reality and what is reported.

Funny.  When we had rampant crime under the PPP, and people wanted to see Rohee fired, the brown bai KKK screamed in horror that a gov't should be held responsible for crime.

Its interesting the double standards that we see here.

Of course this being another PPP legacy.  When a gov't gets into bed with drug trafficking and gun smuggling criminals, why the shock when things go amok.

It was under Jagdeo that crime reached high levels with Guyana having the distinction of being the ONLY Caribbean country with pirates!

sometimes not even your close friends and family members.

All this who cuss out Burnham will have to admit that relatives killing each other to get land was almost unknown.

Overseas Guyanese being killed by relatives is no longer so rare as to be unusual.

Jagdeo legacy.

Lots of truth here,as usual his supporters will look the other way.

I will suggest that this is a very fair assessment.

I look forward to the PPP apologists calling you a niggindian for admitting this.

Yet the brown bai KKK pretend as if Guyana was as safe as heaven under the PPP, and only became violent 11 months ago.

When you PNC supporters will accept that PNC is ruling Guyana since 11th May 2015, soon will be ONE YEAR. Taking the credits for the little good but all the bad belongs to PPP. You fools are stuck in time, that's Jagdeo's Time, maybe you miss him.

I am NOT calling him that.  Your brown bai KKK invented that word.

Your attempt to get me banned was exposed.  And if they respond to you it will be further exposure given the type of insults hurled by the brown bai KKK.

If you were literate you would have seen that the sicall;ed coalition supporters have all criticized the gov't when they saw fit.

What we do notice is that the PPP stooges and the brown bai KKK lavish praise on the PPP, and refuse to admit the destruction of Guysuco by Jagdeo.

Nonsense!  If Lionel Luckhoo and Doodnauth Singh were alive they will tell you how much of these cases they worked on.  I am not blaming Burnham though.  I am blaming the greedy relatives who used to chop up each other for land.
