Moses found his promised land but God decreed that he himself would never enter it. So he walked around it for 50 years in a circle then died. Only after he died did the Israelites enter the promised land.

Just the same as MLK had a vision and from his mountain top, he also never lived to see the dream become reality. Read his speech, it will bring tears to your eyes.

Moses made it clear that the AFC is an independent party---not beholden to the PNC(apnu).

He also mentioned his vote being the 33rd vote.

The PPP has 32 votes---they will need Moses vote---the 33rd vote---to get their bills passed.

THE PPP WOULD BE WISE TO SHOW RESPECT TO MOSES.

Point well taken. I recalled reading in a newspaper that Ramjattan approached the PPP for support in making Moses the speaker but the PPP refused. This shows that politics is a dirty game and that the PPP might have made a mistake by not taking up the offer. Let us all sit back and see how the new parliament works out before getting our sledgehammers out.

Arrogance has a way of back-firing!

In the 1964 elections, Jagan and the PPP won with 46% of the votes; Burnham and the PNC received 42% and D'Aguiar and the UF won 12%.

Initially D'Aguiar approached Jagan about forming a coalition. Jagan arrogantly rejected him.

THE REST IS HISTORY.

The British asked Burnham to form the government in a coalition with D'Aguiar. Jagan was kept out in the cold for 28 years.

Like I said, arrogance has a way of backfiring.

It backfired on Jagan in 1964---let's hope Ramotar understands he has to work with the opposition.

D'Aguiar never approached jagan to form a coalation. peter entered politics to get rid of the jagans..

The governor told Burnham and D'Aguiar that it would be wise to give balram Singh Rai the Premier's Job but they refused.

Cheddi may have wanted to establish a partnership with Burnham---and as usual Burnham outfoxed him.

But the TRUTH is---something many PPPites will deny---capitalist D'Aguiar approached communist Cheddi initially.

COMMUNIST CHEDDI WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH CAPITALIST D'AGUIAR.

Moses was right to say that he has the 33 rd vote, because the recall can only be used if he crossed the floor not vote against his party wishes...

Moses made it pellucidly clear on Spotlight TV that he is not beholden to the PNC(26 seats). He says the AFC(7 seats) is an independent party and he Moses personally represents the 33rd vote in parliament.---no bill gets passed without Moses' support.

He said that Jagdeo and his cabal did not respect him but today, with his 33rd vote in parliament he will have to be respected by the PPP(32 seats).

SO MOSES FANCIES HIMSELF THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN PARLIAMENT---HIS 33RD VOTE MAKES HIM SO.

Are you denying Moses was an unwanted entity until he stumbled into the AFC fold and was sold ideas of grandeur by Ramjattan.

Moses is a Johnny come lately to the opposition and he was on life support systems as a PPP member for the past 10 years. He needs to earn his props as an opposition member. He isn't manna from heaven as you guys make him out to be.

You know some people think manna is really psilocybe mushrooms. This is what the israelites were tripping on and halucinating with during their wilderness days ... just like you guys are tripping on Moses.
Moses did what he had to do. Note I mentioned a few days before he came on board the AFC train that if he did not come he will be made irrelevant. Otherwise, he will make history. Only by one act are most heroes born. Guyana will remember him. He made the PPP and the APNU sit down a the same table and open up Guyana to transparent government for the first time in its entire history. I am going to shut my mouth and let these people find their way. It will not be easy but it is the best way. It is not a matter of tripping on Moses. It is a matter at being over joyed at what came about by him taking the decision to jump ship.

Without him, the APNU would remain just a irrelevant as it did in the past. It would have no voice and the racist on this site that has suddenly come out of the woodwork would be happy pigs living in the reflected glow of abiwe pon top.

Now that sentiment is destabilized, they come out of their holes perplexed. As usual they believed by shouting that they are the best and god made them just right while all others come with blemishes that will win the day. Alas, they are just racists; irrelevant, ignorant and not ready for prime time. I am gone for awhile.

Kari, Can you please ask Trotty why THE PNC was accomodating to him and NOT Moses. What were the underlying REASONS and whether he thinks RACE has anything to do with the "PLAN". Wink

Ii can answer that for you. When the President, Donal Ramotar, in a moment of political tactlessness, said that Moses is welcomed back into the fold and all is forgiven, or words to that effect, it gave Granger the ammo to say. "see, Moses is PPP trojan horse". In its determination to have the speakership the AFC offered a Moses surrogate, Trotman, to be the Speaker. Knowing that it cannot win an AFC/PPP vote on this matter, Granger caved in. It was a win-win situation fro the AFC and Moses. Think of Trotman and Moses as one and the same. Trotman is virulently anti-PNC BTW, and a determined Statesman who wants to see fair and transparent governance - the same political currency as Moses.

Totally untrue. However, there were reports that Jagan approached Burnham to join in a coalition, but Burnham, knowing beforehand the plans of the British government to get rid of Jagan, refused. The US and British declassified documents clearly show how the American consul-general in Guyana arranged for D'Aguiar to team up with Burnham after the December 1964 elections. Actually, the governor appointed Burnham as Premier two days after the elections long before an agreement was brokered for the UF to join the PNC in a coalition. This agreement was reached around Dec. 20, 1964.

Succinctly ..

The British Government of the day was determined to use any means to make LFSB the Premeir of Guyana.
