Did the PPP deliberately kicking out Christians; remember the priests in the rupununi or the Normans recently have some personal grudge against the faith? This politics of personal character assassination and poisoning the society by planting divisive notions is a PPP disease. And you exist here for no other reason but at as a poisoner.

The ERC was useless. It proffered no paper on our divided society. Each day here we have folks defining explicitly their political beliefs by race; what have they done to allay that fear? The PLace was run as a patronage of the PPP and so must go. Any new incarnation of the entity must be civilian organized and civilian run.

Moses is a practicing Christian. There was a meeting here in Richmond Hill and as dinner served Moses wanted to say a prayer over dinner. I was surprised. Conscience is Lenin or Mao your God?

TK, you also appear to be on the AFC bandwagon doing damage control, Nagamootoo a christian? oh please, after literally taking bread out of the mouths of hundreds of Guyanese, he's now on campaign mode, desperately trying to convince some of his very supporters you are severely affected by his party's budget cuts.

It may be so but it could no longer be allowed to function as a patronage system of the PPP. We still suffer extreme political disadvantages on account of racial politics and this org did nothing to address it. I doubt they even had a position on it and if they did it would be the antiquated one embraced by the PPP that only class analysis matters.

Jeeze...you always have problems with context and parallels. US = $14.5 trill ecconomy with the unofficial sector just about 8%. Guyana = $1.5 bill economy where unofficial sector is between 80-90% of official GDP.

The damage is done and cannot be undone. Let Moses build his political career by being anti-Christian. He is supposedly a Madrass/Christian. Someone has to figure this out.

The Guyana Government has ordered the expulsion of all the foreign members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
The church members, most of whom are Americans, were detained at the Headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department, Eve Leary, yesterday, and were given 30 days to leave Guyana. No official reason has been given for the move by the local authorities.

The action is being seen as a diplomatic issue since officials from the American Embassy in Georgetown, including Charge d‘Affairs Karen Williams, had to intervene on behalf of the detainees.

“This has now escalated to a diplomatic incident, I don’t possess any skills in that area,” said attorney Nigel Hughes, who is representing the detainees. The church members who are known as Mormons, and who hail mainly from the state of Utah in the United States of America, have been in Guyana for over 20 years carrying out missionary and humanitarian work.Kaieteur News was told that on Tuesday night, police had swooped down on the Lahama Gardens home of two of the church’s elders and arrested them.

“They (police) actually went to the home of the elders. They told them to pack their bags and head straight to the airport,” Hughes related.
