HAVING read the sentiments expressed by Mr. Moses Nagamootoo and Mr. Khemraj Ramjattan of the AFC on the new found high regard they have for Mr. Ralph Ramkarran, they should now tell the nation why they ganged up against him with Mr. Granger and the APNU to deny him the speakership of the National Assembly. It is indeed a sad day for politics in Guyana as here is another glaring example of the behaviour of some of our politicians who, just a few months ago, felt that Mr. Ramkarran was not fit to preside over our National Assembly, but now describe him as a βgiant of a politicianβ. Not that I do not agree with the distinguished achievements of the former Speaker, which is why I fully support the statement by the PPP today indicating that Mr. Ramkarran is a long-standing and highly respected member and he has made very valuable contributions to the party and the country as a whole. I am also pleased that the party will continue to engage Mr. Ramkarran in further discussions to reconcile the matter. |

Hahaha...the scums of the earth are defending Ramkarran after chasing him out.
HEHEHE Look who is talkin, the Mother of ALL SCUMS. What a SHAMELESS PRICK!!!!
'Nagamootoo, Ramjattanan should say why they ganged up against Ramkarran'
Very simple; if the idiots in the PPP had any brains between their collective ears, they would have realized that having failed to secure an absolute majority in Parliament, there is absolutely no way they could secured the Speakership without the support of one of the Opposition. Had they exhibited maturity & tactical savvy and support Nagamottoo for Speaker , there would have been no need for the AFC to make any deal with APNU and at least Ralph would have been the deputy Speaker instead of Deb Bakker.
Your logic is not only questionable but naive, very naive.

What are the world-wide principles for selecting the Speaker, especially when there is a minority government?

The world wide principles has always been a consensus candidate supported by at least 50% of the elected members + 1. The party with the plurality of the votes is more likely to secure the position by skillful and sincere negotiation with minority parties, where there is some give & take. Only the bird brains in the PPP would think and behave as if they have an automatic lock on such appointment.

Check the situations, for example in Canada as one of the places, on how the Speaker was selected, especially for a minority government.

Does Canada have one public sector radio station from which opposition parties are excluded?

It is also done by secret ballot -not by a show of hands.

He stood to represent the PPP not himself.Further, now that he has come to his senses and taken the courageous step to look the horse in its mouth and say it has huge rotted eye teeth and is not the robust creature it is presented to be he gets kudos.

That would be meaningful if you were aware that logic is about coherency in thinking, ie speaking of the truth and certitude of objects of knowledge solely as objects of knowledge. The only thing one is certain of is you present as an idiot.

I do not have to check what commonsense would inform. Every situation is different when ever/ where ever there is a minority Government. There are Committees & Boards appointments to be made and that is where back room deals & horse trading are done between all parties, which the General Public are not preview to.

Your explanations and world-wide government realities are divergent.
