Nat U-15s selectees benefit from GCB/CGI Players Dev Programme

Cricket West Indies (CWI), through the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), hosted a playerβs development programme yesterday at the Chetram Singh Centre of Excellence Hostel at La Bonne Intention (LBI) and one-day seminar. The programme included the staff of the GCB,

Player Development Manager of CWI, Ayana Cooper; Child Protection Officer, Orette Francois, Nicholas Fraser, representative from the Ministry of Education Allied Arts Unit along with the National Under-15 twenty member squad who were the recipients of valuable information on Child Protection and mental skills training.
Fraser and Francois presented a very informative presentation on what is child abuse, neglect, physical abuse and emotional abuse. Players were also taught about their responsibilities and rights as well as the laws of Guyana with reference to abuse.
A CWI Mental Skills Coach, (Guyanese) Shabakie Fernandes, presented a number of interactive sessions with the target group, which included essential topics of Coachβs Ability and attitude, readiness and goal setting as well as confidence and composure.
The U15 players were very receptive, and indicated that the information shared will help them to effectively execute their skills in a match setting, by assisting them to raise their levels of production and win matches.
