Clerk of the National Assembly Sherlock Isaacs says he wants out of the “confusion” that is the 10th Parliament.

In a telephone interview with Demerara Waves Online News on Tuesday Isaacs revealed that he had earlier approached President Donald Ramotar about resigning from the post he held since 1992.

“He refused to allow me to demit office.”

Isaacs explained that his decision stemmed from the “confusion” in the current incarnation of the parliament which sees the first minority government in the country’s history.

According to the Clerk, he is writing the president again to petition that he be allowed to step down.

“Fed up,” was how he described his feelings, adding that it was the “worst” parliament during his tenure.

Isaacs and Speaker of the National Assembly Raphael Trotman have butted heads on at least one occasion that was made public. That matter related to government amendments to an APNU motion in January for which the Speaker told the House he had not received adequate notice from the Parliament Office.

Isaacs responded in a letter that was released to the media and in which he lodged his dissatisfaction at the Speaker’s remarks.

He also commented that it was not the first time that Trotman had been “publicly critical” of him and the parliamentary staff.

Isaacs has been working in the public service since 1972.

The Truth is Isaac is a type like Kwame (Former PNC convert to Jagdeo & Ramotar) who now want to tek orders and ca$h from freedom house and ignore the instructions from the Speaker of the House or the Majority in Parliament.

It is better he go now before they fire him....he can go wuk with Kwame.

Confusion sets in when one realizes that they are a token appointment and feels no sense of purpose and redundant.  The PPP needs to rid itself of its extra bagages. Uncle Cheddi used to say "Lean and clean".

The AFC/pnc dogs are pissing down on low level workers in their euphoria on gaining the majority in parliament. They are flexing their newfound power. However the Guyanese public will judge them at the polls.

This is a clear message that APNU/AFC are holding the honorable house of parliament hostage. This is the first time since 1992, Sherlock Isaacs found it so difficult to work with the new half-ass majority that he made several attempts to quit his job he held for so many years in the National Assembly. The dishonorable Speaker should quit from shame before Mr. Isaacs for being an accessory to the joint opposition and running the Parliament like w/hore house. I am not surprise that some of the bell ringers chose to discredit Mr. Isaacs and praise the W/horing attitude of the speaker and the joint opposition. Long time done, short time left.
