National Schools Basketball Championships… President’s College, Marian Academy among Day Three winners

President’s College and Marian Academy Under-16 teams enjoyed the journey to winners row when play on the third day of the National Schools Basketball Championships continued at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

President’s College Under-16 blew away St. Joseph High – 52 to 19 points. Rankin McDonald with 13 points, 14 rebounds, Akinyan Deirell 10points, 7rebounds and Jesse Thomas 9 points, 7 rebounds were on target for the winners, while Shaquawn Gill scored 11 points and 5 rebounds for Joseph’s.

Marian Academy Under-16 defeated New Amsterdam Multi – 44 to 5 points.

Akili Haynes 15 points, 7 rebounds, Josiah Daniel 11 points, 5 rebounds and Jether Harris 10 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals led the rout. Imtiaz Jaundoo had 3 points, 4 rebounds for NAMS.

President’s College overcame St Roses High in over-time 52 to 46 points.

Anton Fileen 25 points, 4 rebounds, 5 steals and Akeem Crandon 18 points, 22 rebound led President’s College.

Anthony Yansen 21 points,9 rebounds, 6 steals and Kwesi Roberts 15 points, 10 rebounds, 7 steals were the top shots for Roses.

The tournament paused for the 2017 All-star game yesterday and return with the championship rounds today through to Sunday.
