R.I.P
My condolences to the family. May he rest in peace.
RIP Comrade Navin. May GOD Bless your soul. My sympathies to his Family.
On his Facebook page, former longstanding PPP executive Moses Nagamootoo said:
âNavin Chandarpal, the last among a crop of committed Jaganite leaders, and my associate and friend for some 50 years, died this morning after a valiant fight against cancer.
Navin was a student and youth leader, and one of the few revolutionary intellectuals of our times.
He rose to the top of the PPPâs leadership, but after Cheddi Jagan died, he was sidelined, forced to resign from ministerial portfolio, then ousted by Jagdeo from his job as presidential advisor, which took a toll on his health from which he never recovered.
Navin was brave and defiant.
Guyana has lost a true son.
We share the grief and loss of his wife Indra, his son Rabin and daughter Geetanjali. Farewell, Comrade!â
It took real heart and soul for someone to devote his/her life to struggle against the PNC for three decades. Struggle against the PNC meant living like a church mouse and expending all your energies towards one goal - free Guyana from tyranny. Navin was one of those brave souls who struggled selflessly without asking for anything in return. Today's opposition leaders enjoy a life of luxury vs. those of yesterday. There was no City Council or Town Council under the PNC that the opposition had control over and used to steal millions to fund their daily campaigns on TV and Radio and dine out in fine restaurants. Opposition leaders like Navin were in the doldrums struggling to put food on the table.
The democracy we enjoy today came about because of men like Navin. The freedom that exists in the press and parliament are as a direct result of the struggle of men like Navin. Navin suffered physically at the hands of thugs from the PNC, now called APNU.
We must reflect on his contributions to making our society a better one. We must also cherish those gains won through hard struggle. To cherish means to defend at all costs and remain vigilant at all times. Guyana, like many other freed nations, are still under threat from the old guards. The best way we can serve Navin's memories to keep guarding those freedoms he fought so hard for.
May his soul rest in peace.
Jagdeo lost his cool a few times with his ministers and upbraided about their drinking habits. He overstepped his bounds a few times. We can excuse him for that.
Warrior,
Gutter-rats like you who use filthy language in your attacks on people on this forum can never win the support of decent Guyanese. You belong in the pits with those PNC pigs from sewers who run on the streets of GT every time they hear a little noise.
May his soul rest in peace.

Chandarpal, also a former Minister of Agriculture, polled sixth place on the PPPâs Central Committee with 604 votes at the partyâs congress in August, 2013 at Port Mourant, Berbice.

A Honest Man
In 2003 Jagdeo came up with a Plan to get rid of Khemraj Ramjattan.
At Freedom house Jagdeo Claimed he has proof that Ramjattan was "carrying information" concerning discussions at the Central Committee meeting to the United States Embassy.
Mr. Moses Nagamootoo and Mr. Khemraj Ramjattan have issued public statements claiming that were there and they heard President Bharrat Jagdeo making these false accusation against Ramjattan.
At a meeting of the Central Committee of the PPP on January 31, 2004
Janet Jagan said to save Jagdeo Presidency the Entire Central Committee must sign a statement saying Jagdeo never made those accusation against Ramjattan about sharing information with the U S Embassy.
So they typed a statement and passed it around for the entire membership of the party's Central Committee to sign and then send it to the US Embassy.
That statement was passed around ....it was signed by the now "Famous 29 Funny Fellas"......and there were a few who did not sign it...
it was also noted....."The General Secretary, Mr. Donald Ramotar is on official business in Ethiopia, Africa, and Minister Harripersaud Nokta is on an eight-day tour of the Rupununi, Region Nine. However, they both concur with the statement."
Obviously Moses & Khemraj did not go along with the "Gang of 29 Funny Fellas".....Plus a few other members of the Central Committee refused to lie and to sign the Bogus Statement......
Navin Chandarpal refused to sign that bogus document.
It is a very sad time for Guyana to lose a leader like Comrade Navin. He never forgot the man in the street. My sympathy go out to Comrade Indra, Geetanjali and Rabin during this very sad time. Comrade Navin was always a good human being.
