Gunmen attacked a business located in Durabana Square, Lamaha Gardens, on Thursday after two employees were tailed from a city bank.
Sources in the community told Kaieteur News, that a hire car sped into Durabana Square
and made aa abrupt stop in front of the home of Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Chairman and veterinarian, Dr Steve Surujbally.
The vehicle then turned around, heading back in the direction it came, when it stopped next to a car which was parked in front of the said business, one source related.
“Next thing I heard was ‘bow’! When I looked a tall man dressed in black was standing pointing a gun.”
The business is involved in the agro processing sector.
It was suspected that the two staffers of the company were being targeted. One was a male, who was sitting in the driver’s seat while the other- a female- was standing outside what is believed to be a car belonging to the business.
The source disclosedthat the woman looked “stupefied” as the gunman exchanged words with her. The eyewitness said that the gunman then took a package from the woman, got back into the waiting taxi and made good his escape.
