I make pens for fun and want to make about 100 really cool ones to give away at Christmas. I therefore needs about 150 pieces to compensate for mistakes and hidden flaws. The slugs needs to be 2X2X5 inches ( I want to start at this size to get the grain right) with no flaws since I have to turn them on a lathe. Let me know here if some one can supply that. I wont buy it from the Chinese or a logger. I would from an independent vendor trying to make a living. Here is a link to what they look like and possible cost

1 3/ x2 is fine if there are no flaws and if the wood is cured. If it is not it will shrink and crack after being milled and assembled. Let me know. Jatoba might flake. I don't think its grain is easy to deal with. Definitely want the wamara....about 50 pieces.

Air-dried for 6 years in Canada. WE manufacture high end benches.

I use to have a website. I will attempt to attach a picture onto to this thread, later. What length of bench r u looking for?

Let's say 4'L x 1' Deep It's for autistic kids, they don't tend to sit still so it has to be quite sturdy. Maybe the depth being 1' might not do as well but it's in a hallway. It can have a backrest.

We did build a couple and they were held onto the wall by screws/anchors, they were yanked out in no time. The wall is concrete.

If you do have something I can pass the info on to my fearless leader.

Wamara is exotic wood. You do not build utility benches with it.

Benches built with Jatoba and Purpleheart-sold for $480.00 depending on the design. Mainly for sunrooms. Not durable outside.

The benches are made of purpleheart-solid, heavy, durable construction, mortise, tenon, glued and screwed. It has a back 40" from the ground, 44" length, 19"wide seat 19" from the ground. Some were sold to private kindergarten schools.

Would it suit your application? The design fits the body like a glove. The construction will last forever.

Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry) is a nice wood. I believe they are sometimes used on guitars.

Wamara, I can get u in a couple of months, but will need drying.

If u only need Wamara, then how many pieces u need.

I aim to make about 100 high end pens ( still to get the designs formalized and decide if I will use silver and gold as the finishings) I will need about 150 pieces but will square it off at 200 pieces in the above dimensions. You can send me your quote and we can quibble on it. Above on the right is a button labeled dialog. Keep a watch on it and you will see it telling you that you have a private message. Click on it and respond as here. I will create a message using this post. I want about half warmara and split the rest evenly between bullet wood and purple heard and jatoba. I will try the latter.
