David Pollard to be new High Commissioner to India

STABROEK NEWS, JUN 15 --- Guyana has identified its new High Commissioner to India in the person of Dr David Pollard.

David Pollard
David Pollard

This was disclosed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Carl Greenidge in a letter on page 7 of today’s edition.

Pollard who studied Applied Maths at Cambridge University and has a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Imperial College, London is Director of Pollards Et Filles Limited, an equity and bond fund.

The fund’s website describes it as an emerging markets hedge fund, which has achieved outstanding returns through investing in local markets in the Caribbean and Latin America. Guyana is one of these markets with the fund operating here since 2011.

Pollard will replace Ronald Gajraj, the former embattled Minister of Home Affairs who served as Guyana’s High Commissioner to India from 2005 to 2015.

Trouble in camp they couldn't find one Indo Guyanese, the Indians in Guyana will not be very happy especially when it comes to Bharat Mata,I got no problem with Pollard he is an educated man.

So, why would you suggest that the Indians in Guyana will be very unhappy. You are unhappy, you said it.

Welcome to the linchpin of the APNU emerging power elites. I predict he will sit squarely on the head of the new Sovereign Wealth Fund when oil begin to flow in a couple of years.

Nah you say they have ethnic cleansing which equates to Indian representation is at low within the current administration and they are being forced to flee the land of their birth and another poster said they are second class citizens, you are aware how Bharat Mata is important to some of the Indo Guyanese.

Any way kudos to you for not objecting to the new Guyana Ambassador to India and you acknowledge that the Ambassador to China is not Chinese.

Hey Vish, there is a QC boy on this forum who has taught us that there is a difference between education and intelligence.  So let's not go down that road.

So you don't think that the fact that he is Burnham son-in-law presents a conflict of interest?  BTW, I know David Pollard well.  His mom taught me to speak French.

There was a rumour in Georgetown that Burnham hated this Pollard man and his father and grandfather and was against the marriage.  It seems like the pollard family were enemies of Burnham father. I don't know if it was true.

There will be many Dukes and Duchesses in the Granger/Burnham Dynasty.

Each member of the Burnham Club is taking up their respective place in the Royal Family.

Have you noticed how they kept back this one announcement until after the Jubilee celebrations?  The master plan is unfolding.

What's all the excitement.  Such skills were available and engaged by the former PNC and Guyana went bankrupt!  Their resume's may be impressive, but is it what Guyana needs?
