Ann Greene sent on 36 days leave
DIRECTOR of the Child Care and Protection Agency, Anne Greene, was yesterday issued with a letter directing her to proceed on her annual leave which amounts to 36 days. She is expected to return to work on July 7, 2015.The Guyana Chronicle was told that Greene received her letter yesterday afternoon, two days after she and Minister within the Ministry of Social Protection Simona Broomes had a rocky first day
interaction.
According to information received, Greene and other staff members were meeting with Ministers Broomes and Volda Lawrence when Greene, who has been heading the Child Care and Protection Agency for several years, told her that while on the elections campaign trail she (Minister Broomes) said some things about the Agency that hurt it.
It was noted that Minister Broomes, who was at the time the Head of the Women Miners Association, remarked that the best things that came out of the Child Care and Protection Agency was the paint on the building.
After refreshing Minister Broomes about what she said during the campaign, Greene advised that this is the time to mend the fence.
Yesterday Greene confirmed that she did receive a letter asking her to proceed on leave from Monday, but refused to comment further, as, according to her, she is still a public servant and is not allowed to speak to the media on matters publicly.

Is this an abuse of power by new Minister? Memories of old PNC?
