One New York State student has a bright future because the teen from Elmont has all eight Ivy League schools rolling out the red carpet for her.
Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna attends Elmont Memorial High School, and this senior is at the top of her game; academically speaking.
Uwamanzu-Nna has a 101.6 grade point average and she was an Intel Science finalist. The 17-year-old has just learned that she's been accepted into all eight Ivy League schools.
"My family is so excited. Sometimes I feel like they get so much more excited than me. They literally scream. When I called my mom and told her she was screaming on the phone,"Uwamanzu-Nna said.
The valedictorian credits her success to her family, as well as her teachers at Elmont.
She says instructors like Michells Flannory always pushed her to think outside the box. Flannory says she has always seen something special in Uwamanzu-Nna.
"I think Augusta has always had an eye for improvement and growing. So that has been critical to her success," Flannory said.
Now Uwamanzu-Nna has one big decision to make by May 1. She has not only been accepted to the eight Ivy League Schools, she's also been accepted to four others; Rensaleer, NYU, MIT and Johns Hopkins.
"I'm still quite unsure what school I'm going to attend but I know attending any of them will be such a great honor," Uwamanzu-Nna said. "But for now it's just such, so amazing. I just really can't believe it still."
