NGSA results to be available earlier this year - Education Minister

Minister of Education Priya Manickchand, in the company of Director of the National Centre for Education Resource Development (NCERD) Jennifer Cumberbatch, along with other Ministry officials today visited the Police Officers’ Mess where the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) is being marked.

Minister Manickchand said that the Ministry has maintained a very high level of integrity of the exams and highlighted that there are going to be improved systems in the examinations division, even as she pointed out that there are always challenges faced with the marking of the papers. The scripts are being marked by local teachers.
“I think we’re coming very close to a place where all we want to be able as a country, is to offer the various types of education in terms of private and public… that we are regularised in the type of education that is offered, and so we will have to be looking at that a little bit closer now,” highlighted the Minister.

This year 17,000 students wrote the NGSA during the Easter Holidays.
Prior to sitting the NGSA, candidates would have already written the National Grades 2 and 4 assessments. The results which will be released before the opening of the next school term will report on their overall performance at the three levels.
