GUYANA CHRONICLE, NOV 16 --- Government has denied that two former Ministers under the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) have been tipped for government posts. Minister of State Joseph Harmon told the Guyana Chronicle recently that he is unaware of any such likelihood and moreover notes that no such talks took place.

Recently, there have been media reports suggesting that former Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment Robert Persaud and former Minister of Labour Dr Nanda Gopaul were well poised for government positions.
“I cannot confirm any such employment,” said the Minister of State. Asked if there is merit in statements made via media reports that talks are ongoing though no appointments have been made, Harmon said, “No such talks as far as I know and I would know. I see no merit in the report.”
Attempts to contact both Persaud and Dr Gopaul were futile. However, it was reported in one section of the media that Dr Gopaul did not deny or acknowledge an impending government job or state whether he has been in talks with government officials on the subject.
Prior to taking office, the APNU-AFC led coalition government had committed to an inclusionary government where the voices of all stakeholders would be heard. It is the coalition’s intention to bridge the political divide that currently exists in Guyana and existed for more than 20 years.
