Non-playing clubs should not vote in elections, BCB in good hands

Imagine if we were to have national elections and anyone from the Diaspora in North America can vote, even if they have not been to Guyana in 30 years and have given up their citizenship.
This is practically what some would like to happen in Berbice cricket.
Three non-playing clubs’ factions representatives have taken the elected officials to court making some claims that I hope would ensure they receive penalties when the tapes of the recorded meeting is played.
Mr. Albert Smith, purportedly representing Guymine Sports Club, Mr. Desmond Conway purportedly representing Fort Canje Hospital and Mr. Jaipersaud Hardeo purportedly representing Sinai Youth Group have filed court actions claiming that they were denied their right to vote in the recent BCB Elections.
I have seen copies of their affidavits and those in response, even given a preview of the tape. Many of you in the public domain would not believe that grown men can lie so much or at the least allow themselves to be used in such a fashion.
I recently read two letters in the press apparently published to coincide with the matters that came up before Justice Navindra Singh on the 9th and 10th of November. It was obvious that the authors wanted to influence the outcome of the hearings by strategically putting their own alternative facts out to the public and probably for the judge to read. I am sure our Justices are far smarter.
Mr. Albert Smith is claiming to represent Guymine and I understand has accepted that the club has not played cricket in 30 years, yes 30 years, has no team, no club house, and paid no dues.
Mr. Jaipersaud Hardeo claims to be representing Mount Sinai Club, but newspaper articles recently published indicate that a group called “Angoy’s Avenue Youth in Action/Mount Sinai Group” was recently formed and Hardeo is its representative. This is also indicated in a letter sent to the BCB. It is mind boggling that this person is claiming to be a founder member of the BCB.
A Mr. Desmond Conway is listed as a representative of Mental Cricket Club but he filed court action as Fort Canje Hospital Club. It is appearing that the Mental Hospital lost some patients and they are reappearing at the New Amsterdam Courthouse.
Those of us around the cricket in Berbice are well aware that the three mentioned clubs and Kildonan do not play any cricket and has not done so for a long time. We should not accept that non playing clubs can dominate our elections and do nothing for cricket development, not even play.
The constitution of the BCB is outdated but must be followed. Clubs who do not follow the rules must be purged and allow functioning members to run the cricket. Berbice cricket is on the move. The majority has spoken and we are on the move.
