POLICE in Region 2 (Pomeroon-Supenaam), as well as the Probation and Welfare Department, are currently investigating reports that a four-year-old nursery student on the Essequibo Coast was raped by his 15-year-old uncle on Sunday afternoon.

Reports said the mother of the little boy had left him along with two smaller siblings in the care of her brother while she went on an errand to Charity when the incident reportedly occurred. According to a close family member, when the mother returned from Charity, she found the child crying and bleeding from the anus. During investigations the child revealed that his uncle had buggered him. The mother who was shocked and confused quickly called out to neighbours for help. The child was rushed to the Charity hospital and examined by doctors and a medical certificate was issued. Meanwhile, the incident was reported to the Charity Police Station and officers promptly visited the scene but the teenaged suspect was nowhere around.  The  Probation and Welfare Department is also  investigating the incident.
