Surprise! Surprise!  Nobody wants to talk about gold

Uncle Rama ,gold find is nothing new ,for ages there is gold in Guyana. Most of the large scale gold revenues are shipped out of Guyana by foreign companies. The country gets the crumbs. What could have been more beneficial are if Local Companies was more involved in large scale gold exploration.

No! That's not true!  There is an excise tax on raw gold. In order to encourage manufacturing, manufactured articles are duty-free. The Last time I checked Jewelry was classified under manufactured articles.

Get your facts straight.

There are many Goldsmiths ,I am sure you know about their craftsmanship.None of the Gold extracted by Foreign Companies are on the local market.

Then the Government would collect excise taxes on the gold.  I do not see the problem. The goldsmiths are getting their raw gold from local miners.

Then there are silver and other minerals from which the government collects taxes.

Prashad don't buy gold he buys silver. Does Guyana have silver?

Yes! They have gold, silver, diamond, manganese, and even bauxite. Copper is found on the Roraima mountain range. oil and gas are found in the Atlantic. Do you think that Guyana is going to be rich or the naysayers would try to obstruct the government from removing the wealth carefully and systematically from the area in which they are found?
