She told MailOnline: 'We are here to support freedom. We cannot be beaten. It is an important word, not only here in France, but around the world.

'We are proud of all the people here today. We want to show the world we are united and we are not scared.'

And Anne-Claire Davy, who lives on the Avenue de la Republique where the march passed through, said she was delighted by the march.

Citizens of the west are sending a clear message that they will not be intimated by an ideology that does not allow for freedom of expression or freedom of thought.

Any ideology that does not allow for freedom of expression breeds extremism.

We may see a period of turmoil and uncertainty. I sincerely hope that cooler heads prevail.

We need to see one million muslims march in solidarity with the rest of the free world in support of freedom of expression and free thought.

We need to send a message to their enablers too. Deny deny deny and lie is what they do to support the foot soldiers on the front line for their aim is the same, to convert us all by the sword. Over my dead body.

Million Men March is a just dog and pony show.  Farrakhan also had his million men march. Achieves nothing really.

Europe has severe economic woes, this is merely a diversion.

The fact is, France has a brutal history of Islamic intimidation since their presence in Africa. The young Algerians, Africans, and Arabs face unemployment and economic discrimination in France, they are laughing at this show. From my experience, Europeans talk a lot but have no real balls. Bush dragged them into Iraq reluctantly, and they are still teeter tottering.

Who can stop a tidal wave. Prayers can stop it, but who in Europe is righteous enough.

France in Algeria did some despicable acts during the independence campaign. Over 50 years ago, but the young Algerians remember.

I did not see you speaking out on the slapping incident of the Amerind when he stumped Ramotar with a simple question. How about Nadalaal threats to Knews?

The PPP is getting desperate and don't want to give up power easily.

It will not surprise me greatly if Nandlall's  threat against Kaieteur News is carried out. Five newsman already got murdered at KN and it might  be easy to do again, since the government control the forces.

They might feel they don't have anything to loose, but their ass is grass after elections.

you mean the do not go around strapping on bombs! Today a 10 year old killed dozens in Nigeria. I wonder what cruel person told her she will see paradise by leaving hell on earth?

Europe is where all of north Africa want to come. Look at what they do to get there. Well, those days are gone. England want no more. France has washed her hands, Germany is Germany and even the kindly dutch are taking away passports and have instituted laws that would put people in England like Chaudry in jail. That is also coming. Belgium has had enough of that crap and so has Sweden.  It is not going to be easy for these waste people of  North Africa to come bringing their cultural baggage into Europe anymore.

Chief, what happened in Paris is relevant to Guyana and this discussion regarding 'Freedom of Expression/Free Speech, as indicated by Yuji concerns the same topic.

Five Kaieteur newsmen was already murdered in Guyana at a paper that exposed government corruption and vindictiveness.

The Attorney General of Guyana in a recoded discussion threatened Kaieteur News again with violence. Due to past experience, this threat should be taken seriously. Other attempts was unsuccessfully made to close the paper, violence might be sure way of doing it.

The news people in Paris was murdered because of Freedom of Speech and similarly, the murder/threat in Guyana is about Freedom of Speech.

The PPP call Guyana a democracy with Free Speech, so why are newsman killed and threatened with violence by high ranking officials ?

They have protested in Nigeria many times. But people there are very worried about suicide bombers joining the protest march and blowing up genuine protesters. It is an old islamic trick apparently.

'I am not Charlie:" cracks in the unity after Paris attacks

Reuters

By Ingrid Melander

PARIS (Reuters) - The world outpouring of sympathy after the deadly "Charlie Hebdo" attack has touched many in France but some either detect a note of hypocrisy or feel squeamish about supporting a satirical weekly that antagonized many.

President Francois Hollande's government insists freedom of expression must not be curtailed out of fear of further attacks, and authorities have got fully behind a spontaneous "Je suis Charlie" ("I am Charlie") social media campaign of solidarity.

But scepticism has emerged on the one hand from surviving Charlie Hebdo workers who reject some of the support for them as insincere; from others who found the weekly plain offensive; and others who question the human rights records of the 40-plus world leaders taking part in Sunday's unity march in Paris.

"There are so many big words being said about freedom of expression and democracy. But where was the support (for it) before? There wasn't that much proof," 26-year-old math student Nalo Magalhou said of some of the political and media reaction.

While far less popular than #JeSuisCharlie ("#IamCharlie"), the #IamNotCharlie hashtag has also appeared on Twitter.

To be sure, there is a fringe minority on the Internet who have praised the attacks that killed 17 in three separate attacks over three days and culminated in the siege of a kosher deli in eastern Paris.

But more significant is the body of people who say that while they outright condemn the attacks, they still cannot bring themselves to support a newspaper that mocked religions.

"It would be too easy (to say) I am Charlie," Belgian blogger Marcel Sel wrote on his website.

Horrified by the attacks he unreservedly condemns, he said it would be "cowardly" to pretend he is "Charlie" while he had harshly criticized some of its cartoons on Islam in the past.

Boko Haram used a 10 year old girl and remotely detonated her bomb vest in a market. Why is the world tolerating this? Why don't we see it as breaking news in the media as we did for France?
